Default removing stock muffler in one piece??

i'm in the middle of installing LT's and TD's and everything is going smoothly except i can't seem to get the stock muffler out in one piece... the car is about 1.5ft in the air on jackstands and i dropped the panhard rod to give a little more clearance but i still can't manage to wiggle it out... the only thing left i can think of is dropping the rear end and i definitely don't want to do that haha... i don't really want to cut it, that way i could either sell it in one piece or keep it in case i ever need to put it back on for whatever reason... anyone have any tips/suggestions??

theres is no way without cutting, well unless you do drop the rear. Do one cut just infront of the axle about midway and call it a day. if you do it straight they can use a band clamp $8 to install

There's an article in the new GMHTP that talks about taking off the cross car brace above the panhard bar. Said it was very easy to do.

i always cut them at the muffler inlet. that way whoever gets it can tweak the muffler to ensure the tips are exactly where they want them anyway. i mean come on its one weld. no big deal.

yeah i lowered the panhard on the passenger side and removed that brace also with no luck... i might try removing the shocks, if not i'll just cut the mother f'er haha... if it was on a lift you could prob get it out by turning the muffler vertically to where the pipe is sideways instead of curving over the axle housing if that makes sense... but my jack won't go near high enough for me to do that

drop the one shock. usually it will come out that way. have someone push down on one side of axle and it comes out

I actually just did this a few weeks ago. Luckily for me, I am also in the process of changing out all the rear suspension bushings, so there was no real "extra work".

Remove the Passenger side of the panhard, and completely remove the brace (removing just the passenger side won't do any good since it is direct-bolted w/ 3 bolts to the underbody).

Remove the Passenger side shock and spring. And if you have the RR wheel off, this should get you close.

Like I said, I'm changing bushings anyway.....so I went ahead and pulled off the sway bar and the passenger LCA as well.

Just remember to snug a jack to the bottom of the diff to keep the rear from twisting.

When I did mine back in 05, I dropped the pass side of the rear down and snaked the entire exhaust out un-scathed. I just wanted to keep the WS6 exhaust 100% intact. It's not like I'll ever re-install that, or multiple other stock items, but I just like knowing I could if I wanted, and having the parts in excellent condition.

BTW, I know it can be re-welded, and I even have my own welder, and could do it myself easily. I just chose that route for personal reasons.
