cut out vs. duals
which of the two do you think is better? First of all i dont know whther to get one cut out or two, electric or not. Also, since my car is lowered an inch, and i go with duals should i get 2.5"? or can i fit 3" underneath?

Ive been debating this too. Im soon to be a full exhaust car and im thinking of doing a single electric cutout. I think true duals can get a little loud for those who like it somewhat quiet, but an electric cutout lets you get it all out like nobodys business with the flip of a switch, and keep your catback for a good ride around town. just my .02

if you get duals you will have to get 2.5 but you will still have to change how you drive so you wont scrape anything but it wouldnt be as bad as getting a 3in dual.. and plus on duals its all about the muffler it doesnt have to be loud all the time like if you get magna flow muffler it will be loud when you want it but be really quiet(compared to others like bullet) when you need it like at cruise and it sounds amazing and no matter what muffler you get and little to no rasp but you still have things like drone and rattling but you can always run the pipes to the back if it gets that and it will cut the drone and put the sound to the back instead of under your seat.. but thats just my 2 cents..

cutout if you want it louder and get an electric so you can change the volume with ease. Now if you want your car to sound like it has a pair and send women and children fleeing for life get duals you will have to go 2.5" if you go over the axle otherwise my 3" clears just fine with strano springs 1.3" drop

It really depends on many things...
I went with the Y-Pipe setup paired with a cut out since cops around here are overzealous about hounding cars with loud exhaust....
I have a Hooker Aerochamber that is only slightly louder than stock at idle and somewhat louder when going WOT
I like my setup for what it is...True Duals sound awesome but I'm over being obnoxiously loud all the time. It's nice to flip a switch and go back to sounding stock, or closing the cut out half way for a in between sound

clearance on my 3" duals is hindered more by the mufflers than the pipe diameter.
although bullets tuck up a little better in the trans tunnel....the sound improvement by going with a full size case like the magnaflow 4x9s is AWESOME.
as quiet as a regular catback when cruising
but mean at idle
and down right nasty when you open up the loud pedal.

I have 3'' duals and have 4.5'' of clearance at lowest point(1'' drop). If you have a good exhaust builder you can have duals with plenty of clearance. Duals also sound way better than just a cutout, imo.

duals all the way. cut-outs sound like dump-trucks with no mufflers.

My brother ran 3" duals on a lowered TA and didnt have much trouble...as long as you remember they are under there before you crest a driveway or something with any speed...

I vote for the cutout. I ran duals for a couple years and eventually it was just too much noise all the time. I swapped to a SLP Dual/Dual that a I acquired brand new and put a DMH e-cutout in the I-pipe. It's very tame at idle and cruising with the cutout closed, but I have the option to make some serious noise if I choose. And duals don't come close to an open cutout when it comes to a lumpy cam. That's the first thing I noticed after the swap. Sounded like I swapped in a monster cam.
One other result I experienced, while not necessarily typical, was a significant increase at the track. I went 11.93 at 113 MPH with the duals, and 11.62 at 116 with the ORY/catback/cutout setup. Similar weather conditions and only change on the car was a removed swaybar and a little less fuel in the tank. Like I said, not necessarily typical, but something to think about.

I say go with cutout... dont thing you want to be a loud all the time. I run Lt's with Y-pipe and catback, when I open the cut-out it sounds mean as hell, but when I close it, it sounds nice and quite little louder than stock. And if you want too save some money just go with the manual cutout, its really not a big deal taking it off and putting on.

Even though you're lowered, you can run 3'' true duals. Both of my cars have 3'' true duals. And both exhausts go over the axle. However, any dual setup that goes over the axle will require a panhard relocation bar.

i've got a cutout currently with macs/ORY/slp dd/F1 cam. i love the sound when it's open, it's raspy at times though. but if i had to do it again of course i'd start with LT's, but i'd go with duals over the axle with flanges for disconnect if i wanted to go dumps.
