[QUOTE=SoCalSpd;11654730]Bulllllllsh*****tttt.... Ive tested 6 different lids on a 500 rwhp n/a fbody...ive seen 20 rwhp between brands.
Our testing was done with very large fans in front of the car with the hood closed to simulate real world conditions.
The best being UPD's 90mm lid, followed by Fast toys 90mm raised deal (4 rwhp less), followed by most of the other brands...
Also, the worst was the K&N filtercharger with the metal radiator shroud piece that blocks off flow below the filter. With the hood open it makes good #'s, with the hood closed, it lost 20 rwhp. We cut the metal shroud bottom and picked up 5rwhp but still lowest results with hood closed.[/QUOT
I do believe certain ones do, but on a stock camaro, it wont make that big of a difference. Put a fast manifold on a stock camaro and see 12whp, put it on a modified camaro and see 20+whp. Each combination will have a different number. Depending on mods. Just my 0.2 cents.

This is the UPD lid - maybe be more familiar as the TSP lid when they sold them

They are no longer made - some times they still pop up for sale. They have a 92mm outlet and with some heat they can be expanded bigger.

Just got an SLP lid for 89.99, cant go wrong. The fit is perfect with no gaps and so far no rubbing on the hood either. Im sure that this is the new redesigned SLP lid so no worries in terms of fitment.

It has been generally accepted that most after market lids produce similar HP/track gains.
GM Highperformance Magazine did a study recently and their results confirmed some differences in various lids, but all with had similar results in that they added ~10-15 additional HP over the stock setup.
However, perhaps someone has produced a newer and better lid/induction system. Time will always tell how successful it is to add additional HP/TQ through the initial induction system.
For me, I went with the newer redesigned SLP Lid. That lids seals! It took an overnight use of a high dryer to attack it to the MAF, but the lid sealed perfectly. Much better than the previous SLP Lid.
On a side note, I did have to readjust the LTFT's/MAF calibration once again. Lids are great for more HP/airflow, but I have always encountered +12-15 LTrims after a Lid or induction install.
As far as rubbing..not something I have encountered, but if that is a concern then you might look at other options.
Good luck with your search. If you decide on a newer product, let us know how it goes.

here's the SLP blackwing lid i voted for. its the SLP blackwing lid that isn't made anymore. it is not the same lid that SLP is selling now and everyone complains about rubbing.

general consensus around here is that paper filters flow pretty damned good and everyone also says they do a better job at filtration.
paper filter doesn't look so great with a clear lid, though...

The FTP lid stands out as one of the better lids for those with larger tb and intake due to its larger 98mm diameter.
I'm in the process of removing my SLP lid and replacing it with a clear FTP 98mm lid.

I have the MTI Clear Lid, i think it fits alot better then the SLP lid i had on my z28. I did have to add some extra weatherstripping in the back to seal it properly (thanks to the lid being clear, i saw this. probably had the same thing with the slp lid but never noticed) but other then that. I think it fits great and looks nice.
