Deciding which header....help me, please!!!
I'm sure this topic has come up many times. I've tried lookig at other threads but my question never really got answered.
I need some good headers. I'm seriouly considering SLP (because of quality and thier return policy), and Hooker headers (because of thier lower price and good clearance)
My priorities are:
1. Performance
2. Fit
3. Clearance (I heard hookers have much better clearance than SLP)
4. Expense (this is not really a big issue)
I also dont want something that will rust in 6 months. (I'd be really "salty" then.)
I bought a hooker catback and the tips began to rust after 6 months and my car has never seen a snow or a rainy day, the only water its ever seen is when I wash it.
I'd appreciate any pros or cons on these two brands of header, or any brand for that matter, that you may know about.
By the way, what is QTP headers? I never heard of them.
Thanx in advance

ive got the Hooker JetHot coated LT Headers...they seem good enough for the price....also just lettin u know.....the SLP headers, according to some of my buddies, arent really worth buying...just some friendly advice
I wouldnt go with SLP the fit and clearence isnt very great. If price isnt an issue just call up KOOKS or PPC. Hooker makes great headers and they preform great. Also I would check into Pacesetters they are very cheap and I havent heard much negative feedback. QTP are really great headers also.
I would go with TTS. Only disadvantage with them are their cats are a little on the restricted side. But fit and finish is tops. And Clearance is great to. No warping of the flanges because they are 1/2 inch thick!!!!
The pros of the SLPs are, in my opinion, the quality, fit, and appearance. They're stainless steel and they're ceramic coated inside/out. However, they tend to be on the lower end as far as performance and they are simply aweful for ground clearance. It takes some skilled maneuvering to clear speed bumps. I'm gonna change my SLPs to Kooks. The Kooks perform very well and they are also stainless.
SLP's suck. the price sucks, power sucks, clearance sucks, putting them in sucks, and did i mention they hang to the ground like an 80 year old womans ****. lowest hanging headers ive ever seen. if your car is lowered you'll be dragging even without the y pipe on. if you want a pair of the worlds suckiest headers go with SLP. sorry i just had to go off. get some kooks
I would say Pacesetter headers with QTP Y-pipe.
I run FLP's that I got 3 years ago.(only FLP and SLP then)The fit is excellent, quality is top notch (no rust) and the ground clearance is better than the stock exhaust.

If you want the absolute best headers, QTPs would be my recommendation, followed closely by Kooks and PPC. Thunder Racing's headers look nice, too.
My coated Hooker's fit great, went in with very few problems, aren't showing any signs of rust, and cost a few hundred less than those mentioned above. And I doubt my car would be faster if I had any other brand of headers.

I've been doing a little research and i also agree that QTP would be a great choice. Hooker would be a good choice too, if i wanted to save a little cash. I must say that the QTP y-pipes are expensive compared to others.($310 to $850) WOW!!!
Thanx to the rest of you i greatly appreciate your help!!!

low performance + no clearance = not in my car
My friend has a firehawk that is lowered 1.5 inches (he parkinglot races/autocrosses) and his headers are on the ground in parking lots. Not speed bumps or rounded curbs, but PARKING LOTS. If I didn't see it with my own eyes I wouldn't believe it. I told him it was just the air dam scraping. I had to actually lay down and look and sure enough, both pipes were sitting on the ground.
At least they look pretty out of the car!
i asked the same question a while back. seems a lot of people like the price of the jet hots. but a lot of people have told me the pacesetters were good also at about half the price. i plan on putting the pacesetters in my car just with a different ypipe.

I don't see what the big problem installing the SLPs was, if you have a helper and read the install sheet, it goes very smoothly. As for the ground clearance, I agree totally...it SUCKS...that's why I'm changing to Kooks.
I have Hooker LT headers on my car and the slid right in. No banging and I have great ground clearance even on my lowered car. The sound and performance gain is as good as any. Great headers for the price.
Well I stand corrected then
I've heard from TWO different people the install was long and difficult, and these weren't morons doing the install either. In one case they ended up pounding on the firewall a bit to get them to slide in.

Another vote for QTP's . . . great fit, appearance, ground clearance, and performance. Installation was so easy I had to hit myself in the knuckles with a wrench just to know I was working on the car! Yes their Y pipes are expensive, so I modified the Y I already had and fabed my own off-road pipes.
