Default Why are Hooker headers so expensive?

I'm looking at getting longtube headers and an offroad y pipe for my ws6. i was looking at mac and pacesetters when i noticed the hookers which were over double the price! what makes the hookers so much better than mac and pacesetter sound-wise and performance-wise?

Marketing, I'm pretty sure all long tubes sound about the same, unless the primaries are larger in which case it will sound different.

they should cost more. But also, aren't hooker Stainless Steel, also, build quality, and fit and finish is consistent, from everything I've read.

not sure where you're looking but they go for around $300 painted. that's not bad. i think you're comparing painted pacesetters to coated hookers.

+1 hooker has a great rep, they are made with the best materials using the best equipment and the best manufacturing processes. IE you get what you pay for. I'm saving up for a pair of super comp headers now. i've got enough for the pacesetters but would rather save up for the better ones.

You think those are bad? ARH (the ones I'm getting) are $1300 with catted-y.

It all comes down to quality. I have always been a fan of the Hookers (pun intended) and I have had very good luck with the Super Comps.

all headers are NOT the same. i've owned several brands and my 2" Kooks are the nicest i've seen. ARH are the only other ones that match the quality and performance of Kooks in my experience. Pacesetters are a great budget header and perform just fine for most people, but the quality and crafstmanship just isn't the same and other brands DO make more power. Equal length primaries and high velocity merge collectors make big differences. If you pay $1K for a set of headers, you probably will still get what you pay for, just like paying $350 for pacesetters.

My Hooker Supercomps have bad welds from the header flange to the primaries on the driver's side. Passenger side is great though, I am moving to a set of ARHs. If you are going to do it, do it right the first time like i am learning. Fitment with the Supercomps is horrible also. The driver's side motor mount had to be dislodged and motor jacked up about as far is can go with the oil bypass and filter off also to install the driverside header. I will never buy Hooker LTs again, but others have had better luck than I have.
