Mike, I always give my honest opinion, no B.S. here! And that is sometimes embarrassing because I have screwed up and put the wrong damn parts on my car from time to time.
The XR1 I used is the Oval Offset, not the round one that looks like a bullet muffler. It's straight through, but still amazingly quiet, at light throttle. Once you put your foot in it, it's loud, but that's what I like about it, you have control over it. At idle and light throttle, it's much quieter than the Loud Mouth with stock cats, and no drone or rasp (but still louder than stock.) At WOT, it sounds much like the LM without cats, only not quite that loud and raspy. Kinda NASCAR like sound . . . It's more throttle dependant than rpm dependant; makes a nice racket even at 2300 rpm but only if you have your foot in it!
I sawed my LM resonator in half with a cop saw and used the two pieces as 4 inch to 3 inch and 3 inch to 4 inch adapters, hence "BorlaMouth." I couldn't afford the QTP Y pipe, so I modifed the SLP Y to fit the QTP headers by cutting the end connectors off and spreading it wider with a hydrallic ram . . . this is a temporary measure until I get a real 4 inch system.
I think you will like the Borla XR1 Oval, but it's expensive. I screwed up and ordered it direct from Borla because I got in a big damn rush, but latter discovered Jegg's had it for a much better price.

Anyhow its nice because it gets rid os *some* of the stank smell of longtubes, also quiets down the car a bit

If I have stock manifolds, and borla all the way back from the stock manifolds, what happens to the borla when I get headers? I am going to get kooks or QTP, but what do I need to hook them up to the borla?

$700 for a full set of FLPs' is a great deal, I just picked up a set of TTS's with cats and y for $500 from someone local, so mine goes back up on ramps and blocks this weekend.
