Weird Voltage Problem
I have noticed lately on my TA.....if i get the rpms above 3800 or so....either when im at WOT, or just getting into the throttle pretty good.....my voltage drops way down, and all lights (interior, exterior) dim.....could this just be a bad belt, loose tension, alternator pigtail loose.....or is it sumthin else...belt is also squealing a lil....if that shines any more light on this, Thanks
having the same problem....mine is now dropping low at idle also....anything between 1000rpm and 3000rpm is fine....i am leaning towards bad alternator, but this is why i have 2 cars...when one breaks, i attempt to not break the other, lol!
I believe I have the same problem, it doesnt do it all the time, but when i give it gas, my headlights flicker dim, just for a split second. then they r back to normal, its kinda hard to explain..
Have seen it B-4 at work, it is an alternator.
The rectifier bridge is weak/damaged & the hi/heat & higher rpm of the stator cause the charging voltage to fall off.
If you remove it & take in to be bench tested they should see it faulter, if it is a constant problem.
EDIT; BTW did it ever set a charge related code?

no codes, i work at advance auto parts here in lubbock, and tested it on the car, and it tested fine...battery however didnt so well...i am gonna replace it with a red top optima, to see if that helps, and if not, i dont mind, i wanted one neways.....i have thought alternator all along, thanks for confirming it tho...babies are expensive to replace on just a thought....appreciate it!

a $100 optima red top didnt help out much (but made the engine bay look alot better).....
so, anyone else with this prob, try an alternator, even tho they are quite pricey
