Can I ditch the EGR?

I'm in the process of putting lt's on and was wondering if i can get rid of it. I have seen ls1's with out it. Any help would be great

I just read some of that sticky above. Will it run ok without a tune right away or like ****? I'm running an oryp so no cats... and I can deal with the ses light as its been on forever from my two crapped out stock cats.

It shouldn't run like **** but you won't see the full benefit of the headers either until you get it tuned.

It wont need a tune from losing the EGR, it will just have an SES light b/c the valve isnt working and will make the ECM lose it.

all you get is an SES and a cleaner engine bay from dumping the EGR. Go for it!

There is a table for the egr that alters fueling according to temperature. You need to zero it out.

Dumped the EGR and the AIR and got the plugs and wires on, fired it up with open headers for a minute... sounded so nice. The one thing I had to do was put some heat shield over a few of the spark plug wires because they were a little close to the headers. is burning spark plug wires a common concer with lt's?

Not usually. I've never had a problem until I got a wild hair in my *** and decided to try the Summit brand wires. No matter what they just lay over on the primary. I got some heat shielding Im gonna put on them until I get a new set of wires. But EGR and/or Air pumps are the FIRST things to go on the cars we mess with. LOL

just get the codes out before you need inspection. My guy couldnt pass me since the SES light was on. All computerized system now. I miss my 94 sometimes...sometimes
