Default BEST ORY out there

Right now i have the QTP ory that comes in pieces. The ground clearence is horrible on my stock ride height car.

I finally got my tax refund check in the mail and i have some grip to buy a new one. Is there a BEST one out there? I want to go 3". Anyone have any suggestions? My knee jerk is that most will be very similar... I am considering a TSP ory because it is one piece and cheap.... please help.

i have the tsp and the fitment is crap on the drivers side.
it hangs really low and can be seen from the side of the car and its not 1 piece its a 4 piece.
best bet is to order a flowmaster merge and have a exhaust shop make one to fit the car.

I always liked the Pacesetter Y. My car has a ProKit on it and it would barely ever scrape, so stock ride height you should be fine. Everyone's going to tell you to go custom but people forget that not everyone has a good exhaust shop/guy around to make a Y pipe that doesn't look like complete ****/flows well/fits nicely. If you're handy with a welder (I was going to do this but got lazy and cheap) you could weld in a Flowmaster merge and then you'd have an awesome Y pipe setup. Also, the Pace Y is only two pieces, so you're not dicking around trying to get 7 pieces to line up the right way.

Oh, pretty much all of the mass produced Y pipes have a decent amount of overlapping material in the merge section, grind that **** out with a carbide bit or something similar. There's a lot of material to be removed in there usually.

Link in my sig will detail the process/review/pictures of the Pacesetter Y pipe with a 4" flowmaster merge. By far, the best ground clearance Y pipe. Unmoddified its a piece of crap, other than superior clearance. With a new merge, however, its a serious y pipe. If you're having someone put in a merge, then they'll be able to make it fit your headers. Poly mounts will be a must.

Polly for slip off of header prevention? Stock mounts just move too much?

Poly mounts for pipe banging issues. The first time you step on it with stock mounts your exhaust is going to flex and smack and rattle on the floor board of the car. When you shift its REALLY going to hammer. Poly engine mounts will solve this issue.

Is that the problem in hearing when i dump the clutch or bang a gear is the motor flexing and the exhaust hitting the floor?

Not if you do them while the headers are off. Took me about an hour.

Yes

I installed mine with headers/starter still on the car. I'll never do that again

I like my Kooks y-pipe....quality and fitment is up there with thier headers. I welded a little rubber bump-stop to the drivers side piece to keep it from banging on the floorboard.

You know.... thats really not a bad idea.... i can probably get something like that to work with a band clamp. hmmmmmmm..... Good call! Its a whole lot cheaper and less time consuming than getting poly motor mounts.

Buy a flowmaster merge and have a shop make the rest. It will be the best flowing.

I also think going with the flowmaster merge with a custom Y pipe will be the best bet. Does anyone have the exact part number for this particular piece?

I might be getting a set of stainless hooker headers very soon, and was wondering if their Y pipe is any good?
