Rear Cover Differences

Hello guys, I was wondering what the differences between rear crankshaft covers were. I see that some are thin ones and other thick ones.

Crankshaft Thick Rear Cover Part# 12556105
Crankshaft Thin Rear Cover Part# 12559287

Can you guys please help me identify which motors or vehicles these covers came with, for example the F-body and corvette ls1 5.7 or the Truck 5.3 or 6.0 engines,why they differ in thickness. Or maybe theyre out of LS2 vehicles?

I realize that this may be old part #'s and that there may be newer part #'s.

I'm trying to assemble some engines back together and have these two different types of covers and don't want to mess things up.

The cover cant be too thick because I will hit the rear sway bar. Just buy an aftermarket cover, its stronger!
