Default To cam or not to cam?

My car has 158,000 and runs like a champ. Mainly highway miles from trips and going to the lake 70 mile trip about every weekend. Great oil psi and always keep maintenance up.

I would love to cam my car but wondering how much will I enjoy it. I cannot make up my mind if it would be worth the time and money in getting a cam setup.

Its a Daily Driver btw. So a 224/224 seems like the popular "good" cam.

My car has all the bolt ons other than a UD pulley.

Do it! I went from stock to a 224 on a 112LSA and I loved it. WAY more power. No trade off in drivability. I just sold my 224 yesterday on here for $250. Going a little bigger, but for what you're doing a 224 would be great.

I have the TR224 114lsa. Great daily driver cam. Runs great from idle on up. Fuel economy is still good - if you drive slow.

Changing cams will definately make a change in fuel mileage.

Why not pick up a used blower from the classifieds and go that route?

If you want a cam, put it in there and don't sweat the small stuff like mpg.

it will but the 224 is a relatively small cam so the mpg will not be affected too bad.

I recently made a 1200 mile round trip and averaged 22.9 mpg all highway as opposed to 25 before the cam/stall. The stall KILLS me around town and I get 15-17 mpg.

Since your a M6 I have even seen 228 duration cam be a good DD. If gas mileage is a real concern of yours it would be best to stick with the 224 area. You could always go custom grind "Patrick G" works wonders on here and you could get EXACTLY what you want. If you wanted to keep everything the same you could just spray your car and get the added power you want just when you spray the car wouldn't have to sacrifice drivability or fuel mileage when everyday driving.

I get 24.5 MPG with heads/cam/4.10s. This is at 75 MPH constant on the freeway.
