Are you running the Yellow springs or did you move up to dual springs?

curious as well on the OP topic..

I think I might head this route with 243s since i'm more on a budget build for now. My new home closes in Oct. so I definitely need a cheaper build but with decent power and great street manners.

I would go w/ at least comp 918's. .581 is too much lift for yellow ls6 springs.... you can go w/ the dual springs, but for a 224 w/ .581 lift the 918's will be just fine and save some money.

LS6 intake and an El Torro cam would make a fun combo

I have a 2002 Z28 with a 6 speed. The car is stock aside from the following. Lid, MAF, PCM Tune, 180 stat, 4.10's, Kooks LT's with low restriction cats and B&B triflow catback.

I then purchased a brand new set of 243 heads with the yellow springs and hollow valves. I intend on ordering a cam, pushrods and gasket package. I contacted Thunder racing and asked which cam to buy that would give me optimal preformance while not compramising drivability. Here is the reply I got.

If you do not port the heads I would suggest going with the 230/224/111LSA cam. Has the driveablitly of the TR224 but will make more power. If you do go ahead and port the heads the TR227 Extreme would be a pretty good choice for what you are looking at. Specs are 227/227/ - 116 LSA. Lift is .639/.639. It idles similar to the 224 but will utilize the flow of the ported cylinder head better. If you decide to go with the 230/224 you will not have to change springs, but you will definitely have to change the springs with the 227 extreme. As far as the injectors you should be fine with the stock one. Let me know if you have any further questions or if which direction you are looking to go.
