Default LS6 intake: install now or wait

I recently purchased a ls6 manifold for my 99 trans am and i don't know if i should install it now or wait 2 months to install it with LT headers at the same time. Would i be able to feel a big difference with the ls6 installed alone?
thanks in advance.

Just watch out for the oil pressure switch behind the intake manifold.

I'd recommend removing it first if this is your first time.

Don't wait. While the gain should be more noticable if you do them at the same time, that would be the only reason to wait.

1. It's a simple swap (except watch the oil pressure sending unit as another poster pointed out)
2. It does not require really any work that would have to be redone to do the header swap, so this is not a case of creating extra work by doing them separate.

Once you have done LT's and LS6 manifold, make sure you tune the PCM or at least check A/F to make sure it's OK. I did a bunch of bolt-ons to my '99 Z28 and A/F was 15:1 at WOT afterwards. I knew it was going to be off, so I hadn't been beating on the car. I went and dyno tuned the PCM with wideband promptly after completing the mods.

Why would you wait to have more power, when you've got the parts? You should be installing it instead of typing!

I vote to wait, I like big gains at once and you wont have to mess with the egr in the exhaust manifold, but to each their own.

Do it now but here's a quick tip: before you start go to o'rielly's and get an oil press sending unit since its your first time I can almost guarantee you will break it but if you don't just return it and get your money back. They're around $50-55.

My vote is do it with the headers,

I've always been a fan of working on the car once, doing it right the first time and make sure you have everything there waiting to be installed before you start.

That's just me, why work on your car twice when you can do it just once?

Plus I'd rather see the gain from both Ls6 and headers at the same time, thats gotta be anywhere from 20-40wheel hp combined and get a tune aftewards too!

I had headers/ls6 done at the same time, didn't really feel a difference at all.

It will take you less than an hour to do the intake swap. Just do it. Should actually take about 30 min tops.

Do it now! I just put an LS6 intake on on Thursday and noticed quite a diffrence above 4.5K RPM! I would say more then when I put the lid and cat-back on...... I just finshed putting LT Pacetsetters, ORY, new NGK plugs and wires and the car actually felt a little slower until I put about 50 miles on it on the way home now holy hell! It is way faster but I imagine it needs a tune.....

Also just get an oil pressure sending unit and socket, I got one from auto zone for $41.... Everyone I have talked to that has put in an LS6 intake has broke it taking the old one off.... Also get some mechanic gloves or prepare to have your hands cut to hell by the cowl under the hood.......It looks like I got into a fight with an angery cat...
