Default ls1 intake to ls2 intake

i posted this in the ls2 section and didnt get anywhere so i figure ill put it here. i have a ported ls2 intake setup im installing on my engine. i need to know if i will have to change the coolant tube under the intake. some people say yes, some say no. i would like a definate answer. as far as i see, the tube is no taller than my valley cover bolts, so why wouldnt it fit without changing the line. but, just wanna make sure.......

prob cause no one puts an ls2 intake on their car...they just take them off! im just f'n with ya man. Good luck finding the answer though...

try and find out, I dont think it'll be a big deal. With my FAST swap, I did have to pry the coolant line under the TB a bit but I had an LS6 before so...

I found an ariticle using google that I think was from chevy high perormance. The LS2 intake manifold used a bigger throttle body (90mm), but does not outflow the LS6 manifold because of internal leaking between the runners. However it is a multipiece manifold that has been fused togther so it can be taken apart and ported easier. The guys in the article ported the manifold and it then outflowed the LS6 manifold, but their porting service is about 300 bucks. So, bang for the buck, if you have them port it is more expensive than what you can get used LS6 manifolds.

I figure the LS2 is going to run close to the valley just like the LS6 manifold. I would swap them out just in case. You may read somewhere that the LS1 coolant lines will work but... You can use the LS1 coolant lines with the LS6 manifold but have to cut the frills out so... I have never seen the what the bottom of a LS2 manifold looks like? So... Sorry that I don't have a definite answer for you either bro. Good luck and post up what you find out.

well the coolant lines DO hit, im just woundering about the valley bolts now cause it looks like they are just about the same hidth as the coolant lines.......

You can get the bolts on the valley cover for a FAST intake, and they aren't that expensive. That would take care of that because they are about flush with the cover as you can get if your worried about clearance that bad. What kind of valley bolts come on an LS2? I figure they would be the same as the LS1/6 valley bolts. If I where you though, I would get the LS6 coolant line and the block off caps with new gaskets to be on the safe side. There is no reason to cut it close if you know what I mean.

yea i know what ur saying. well, im gonna go ahead and get the coolant lines. i just dont like blocking off the rear. i may just take the ls1 tube and cut it, put in a piece of hose, that way it still crosses over to each side for the rear. once i took the coolant tube off, the intake fit right on. no issues with the bolts. i turned the intake over and there are spots made in the intake for the bolts to recess into so they arent the problem. thanks guys for the help.........
