Lid vs FIPK

A while back ago someone on here did a comparo of several different lids and an fipk. They did the test on a dyno with several high power fans to simulate a car at speed. The test were done with the hood open and with it closed. Open the fipk made the most hp but closed it was pretty much at the bottom of the list. Closed the fast toys 85mm lid did the best followed by a TSP lid(no longer made). Seriously though a lid and cutting out the bottom of the airbox is by far the best route as far as performance and bang for the buck. The fipk is way too expensive for what it does. Most people that list the gains are doing so on the dyno with the good open. But we drive with the hood closed. I hope this helps.

get a lid so you can incorporate ram air like a FTRA, SSRA, SUX2Bu or custom...if you dont wanna run ram ait then both setups are about equal...but you will be leaving hp on the table

Yeah they were real big back in the day and came up with a very nice turbo set up but unfortunately couldn't keep up with the demand and for some reason instead of expanding they closed down. It sucks too because I had stuff on back order when they shut down so they got to keep my money. But things happen and it wasn't too much money but their products were very good that I had. I did put thin weather stripping around the underside of the airlid for a airtight seal though.

All lids are very comparable in power and fitment. Personally I love my new clear fast toys 100mm lid. Just get what's in your budget or what you think looks better. Because that is a loaded question. You can get two lids from the same company and one may fit like a glove and the other warped so bad that it won't fit under the locking tabs. If you do get one that doesn't fit right just send it back for a new one. No biggie.
