Default LM-What type of headers?

i know i am going to get loudmouth exhaust for my 02 z28. I am confused as to what type of headers to get. I read about Longtube and am confused as to what all is needed in order to get a set of say, SLP Longs to fit versus like some shortys. Any help would be greatly appreciated and also any reccomendations would be appreciated. Thanks

well, every one on here is going to tell you that Kooks, Hookers, and SLP,s are the way to go, And they are correct if you have the cash for it, but if you are on a budget, Pacestters or Macs are the way to go. Getting them to fit is no problem, they are specificly designed to fit your car. Its too easy. Now you have to choose your Y-Pipe, If you want the Off road Y pipe, you may want to buy a dynomax bullet to replace you LM resonator. UNLESS YOU LIKE IT TO SOUND FREAKING LOUD. I happen to love it loud. But there are a few on here who perfer their cars to not sound too tough. There are also a few that will tell you to not Combine LM's with Macs and an OR Y-PIPE, But thats what i have and it sounds great. I chose the Macs because my car has the Eibach pro kit on it ANd i wanted to ensure that I had enough clearance.

So all in all, you can ask for opinions and you will get plenty of them on here, all ill say is, if you buy the headers and y pipe for your specific year, it will fit fine, as far a sound and headers go, its up to you. BUT TRUST ME HEADERS, OR Y_PIPE AND LM AINT "TOO LOUD"

you mean kooks, hooker/jethot, and qtp's are the way to go. avoid slps as they hang low and are overpriced for what you get.

he's right about the LM needing a real muffler or some bullets in the I pipe or cats unless you like alot of rasp.

and cool360c - do a search for LT's. there have been plenty of good thread covering various long tube setups in the past weeks. its best to do alot of reading and research before asking questions. when you've narrowed it down or have a specific question then feel free to ask.

As mentioned the Loudmouth will have an aggressive sound that will be even louder when you put some long tubes ahead of it. The extreme is running with no cats. The SLP long tubes are by far the most popular headers that we carry for the LS1. You will need the headers, Y-pipe, cats and installation kit. These parts are pretty much required for most of the long tube header packages on the market. Shorty headers are good for about a 10hp increase. These are a direct replacement for your stock manifolds. Long tubes are generally good for about 25hp. Higher gains can be seen on heavily modified cars.
