Whining Pulleys, which ones? I took my 1999 trans am to the shop today after my pulleys were making a huge whining noise on the way back from drill last weekend. He used the stethescope and decided that the two pulleys towards the bottom that sit back and right on top of each other were making the most noise. I think there the a/c belt tensioners but could be wrong, no one at advance auto parts could figure out which ones they were. Am i correct, and if so where would be the best place to get these pulleys, if somebody could take a picture of the pulley diagram and label the pulleys that would be a huge help. Thanks for any help.
Going through and lubing them (heck just feeling them) would at least tell you which one it is. You might even see if just the bearing is replacable.
Another quick test you can do is to remove A/C belt and see if the noise goes away. If it does you know it is one of the two A/C idler pullers.
