THANK YOU!

I can't stand that stupidity...

"yea your car runs like a raped ape at 6500 but at 3500 its a dog" Um... who gives a ****!

Clearly a car with a 4500stall and a 4.30 gear is not worried much about his torque numbers at 3000rpm...

I love that ******* argument... "don't get those heads, sure they make great numbers at 7000rpm but at 3500 you have no torque" "dont use that cam, its too big, you will loose all bottom end power" How much power do you ******* need to cruise at 80mph? Do you really need 450FtLb Torque to drive to the track? No, would you rather have all that torque at 6000rpm which is where you will be launching? YES!

OP, I think your car will make a decent gain. And even if the dyno does not show it, I think your car will improve at the track. People always say 1.875" headers are too big for 346's.... I say BS.

Well, I for one DO care about my HP and Torque at 3,000 rpms!

I drive the Trans AM almost every day during the summer months here in NY, I dont usually rev the rpms past 3,500...in my setup thats good enough for 90% of the cars that pull up to me at a light or on the highway.

For those other 10%, they will see the full range of my little 'ol baby 383...reving up to 7k - crying as they fall farther and farther behind me.

As for 'loss' of power with 1 7/8" vs 1 1 3/4" I dont know either, and it may be a myth.

I'm subscribed to this thread and cant wait till the OP posts his graphs for a real comparision.

LOL so your saying launch at 6000 at a street lite to feel the power?? Thats even more stupid...

Listen..not all guys have "track only" cars..most of us drive on the street where launching at 6K every single time is not exactly the smart thing to do.

Next time think before you type...

Your right, not everyone has a track car but the OP has 4.30's and a 4500 stall so at the very least anything under 4500rpm's is irrelevant.

High stalled autos and high geared sticks for mostly racing don't need as much low end torque because they mostly use high rpm's. Daily drivers with less gearing and stall can use as much torque as possible for low rpm use.

Everything is a trade off and a car's setup has to reflect it's use.

This is a track only car so your whole argument in relation to this topic is simply a waste of space. Results will be posted and until then your guesses are pointless. Sit back, relax, and wait for results.

I don't go above 2.5k on my way to work. How much power does it take to cruise at that rpm? Probably less then 100hp. You will not notice the loss unless you're going WOT through that RPM. If you're just coasting at 3k, you won't notice. If you're WOT at 3k, you will notice. That's what I'm trying to explain. No one is going to notice unless they're racing at that RPM.

Charles im also interested to see if you gain any rwhp...

when you installed the ms3 cam on my car, I also have hooker 1 3/4 competition headers...but mine are a different style then the ones you posted...its seem's like mine would flow better then the ones you took off....

Yours....

Mine....

also, my car goes on the rollers Saturday for a local dyno day on a dynojet...I will shoot you a PM with the graph and numbers since I havent had a chance to come back out to you.

Well the car is launched around 4500 rpm so anything below that is irrelevant.

I have seen similar results as well and have thought of stepping up to the larger size. The dyno runs I have seen show gains throughout the RPM band not just peak. For a catted car, I think the larger cats may be part of the reason.

I voted 10 hp.

man this is taking forever.

go kick your tranny guy in the ***** and take your car. LOL

Everyone arguing about high rpm power vs. low rpm power.... SHUT UP! Build what your car the way you want and leave everyone else to build theirs the way they want.
