Default what do you think? Intake or heads

I am debating between buying a set of bare 243 heads and filling them with my dual springs and Moly rods,OR a fast 78 intake.

I have a 02 z, cam only m6. I'm thinking the heads will give me a nice pick up for not too much investment since I just redid most of the valvetrain 700 miles ago in my stock heads with the cam <springs pushrods locks retainers seals seats> (have ls7 lifters and ls2 trays sitting in a box too), the intake should give a gain too but probably not as much benefit, I could be wrong.

Care to chime in Gurus?

I am eventually going to get ported trickflow heads and a ported 90 but for now, either of these aren't a bad idea. I'm not planning on porting these 243's if I pick them up, to keep investment down and save for aftermarket.

Thanks in advance.

youll be better off with 243 heads and your stock ls6 intake than just a 78 fast.

I would just save up and get what you want first you not going to gain much from either one of them. but if I had to make a choice it would be the heads mainly because if you do the intake first you would be doing the same job twice but here is a thought you will be spending at least 200.00 to do the heads (resurface and gaskets) that is if you don’t need the seats in the new ones switched in that case add 200 more you have good valve train so get a set of trick flow heads bare and put your valves in and springs in than just your stock intake back in now when you got the cash for the intake it is a ez job

No idea how long it'll be till I have enough for Aftermarkets, prob. a year or more.

I like the idea of grabbing bare trick flows, never thought of that just wanted assembled 215/235's.

Thanks guys

Id say the 243's aren't a steal, like 400, that's the going rate bare? I'd still need gaskets and prob. other ods n ends. the fast 78 was about 600 and my tb is already ported.

I figured an extra 10-15 hp for 500 wasn't so bad:shrug:

In any case, I Just am gonna put that 500+ into a fund for the Bare trickflows

I can get my intake ported locally for about 2-300 iirc but that's only 5 ponies or so.
Thanks guys for your input!!!!

Sell your LS6 intake, buy a FAST 90 or 92 from the classifieds section and your only out about 400. Heads will help but cost a lot and wont make a ton of power until you get a nice cam to maximize your combo.

It's got a Trickflow in it. I haven't seen a 90/92 up for sale lately

You are much better off going with a fast 90.
And you might want to think about a cam before heads. Fortunately for us, LS1 heads actually flow pretty good from the factory. At least better than LT1 heads did.
