I've had my red top for 3 years. No problems, just wish it was lighter.

when you say he was starting it, did he drive it or just let it idle. it should be driven around town or on an interstate.

x2 on the red tops being hit or miss.

I had one crap on me after a year or so. The one i have now is in its 3rd car. Granted all 3 cars it has been in were only driven a few times a month. But this one seems to be holding up.

I personaly pick the battery depending on the color of the car. I mean i wouldnt want green battery in a red car when i could get a red top or Duralast with a red cover. Kind of a dumb reason to choose a battery but there are so many options its not that hard to find one in a decent brand/battery that matches the color of a car.

Go into the Sponsor Sales & Specials section, as noted. ModularTurbo is selling 11# batteries for an introductory price of $100 shipped. They back their product & if there are any issues, they will resolve them. Read my posts in the Sponsor Sales & Specials section & you will see how well they treated me. If trunk mounted, they use the 16.5# version. Engine bay mounted is the 11#.

Please check your + terminal often. I had two of these before the optima and both leaked.

I have a red top, and Ill say stay away from them. Im on red top # 3 in about as many years. I am very much into car audio, but that has not been the cause of the problems. Ive had cells go out, internal grounding problems........ not worth the hassle. I have friends with red tops that have had issues too. back when i first bought my car used, the battery was bad and I swapped it with another Delco battery and had 0 issues for over 4 years.......

Dont buy the hype, they are not worth the money. We used to sell interstate batteries at the car audio shop and seen various problems.

Interstate in the Camaro but thats what it came with, no issues at all. My Subaru winter beater on the other hand has a Napa Gold. I have had the same battery in that car for over 8 years and have never had an issues. I beat the holy **** out of that car, snow drifts, hunting, rallying you name it. Car has 270,000 miles on it and it does not burn a drop of oil and always starts! I can't blow it up if I wanted to.
