first and foremost, L92 heads will not work on a 5.3L engine. L92s require at least a 4" bore. with that being said, if you really want a 500hp 5.3 i think you'd have to go with afr, trickflow, or a heavily modified 243.

500rwhp 5.3 N/A............most likely not going to happen. You should read the Patrick G thread about the recipe for 500. It took a hell of alot of time and money to build a 500rwhp 5.7. In that build they used tony mamo hand ported AFR 205's so factory heads are going to be a little bit of a stretch

But with some TFS 215's a good custom cam and a fast intake could get you high 400's like 460 - 475. Factory heads maybe some WCCH LS6 heads or another reputable company can make good cnc factory heads but they usaully all fall a little short of aftermarket heads. If 500 is your goal factory heads probably arent for you.

You could do a stroker and turn that 5.3 into a 383, or if you havent bought to motor yet get a LQ4 6.0. That will give you more cubes and more potential, then you could use the L92's and 500 would be a hell of alot easier.

The 5.3 will be bored to 3.79 with a 4.00" stroke crank, .600" cam with about 108 lobe. A professional port job, upgraded valves and springs along with some 1.85 rollers on 243's or 317's is what I was thinking would def be a good 500 crank hp. Hopes this helpsc out all those who doubt that it can be easily achieved without going high dollar on the heads.

That info does help alot. I thought you meant a stock 5.3 shortblock with some ported factory heads and a cam. But a stroker nice heads and a big cam should do 500flywheel pretty easy, just watch the duration because a cam to big will kill driveability.

Might want to rethink the 108lsa, That wont realy work well with your "nice streetable" setup. Some thing in the 111-112 lsa better.

It's call realistic goals gentleman.....LOL

And I place my emphasis on the words "realistic"!!

Going into any project without them is assured to cost you more than you want to spend and short changed when the rubber meets the rollers
