Default So question for the TSP true dual guys!

So been lookin at the system alittle more serious now. Had slp LM1 for about 5 years now and lookin for a louder more obnoxious change and I want duals. I have heard the system in person and I love it but I noticed in the fine print that it says not recommended for use with body mount TAs and I have a UMI tunnel mount on the car that I did when I put in the flt lvl4 trans. Anybody have first hand experiance with this setup? Alot of hacking of the exhaust needed? Any input even from the tsp rep would be nice cause I like the system!

I too went from a LM1 to a TSP True Duals... but I installed dynatech mufflers to pass noise regulations at the local tracks, so my car got "quieter" rather than louder when I switched...

I have a body mounted torque arm, but it is al old design Stealth Torque arm which mounts to a modified transmission cross member... Not sure how it will work with your UMI.

I would contact the guys at TSP and see if they have experience with your exact torque arm.

im sure ive seen umi in a thread before say that it will work with their product but i would just call them.

Yeah, actually after I looked in the exhaust section and saw that they actually posted pics of the dials with the tunnel mount TA. Any input from TSP would be cool.

So what exactly was the point of that link posted. Engine builder that does true duals for guys with umi tunnel mount TAs?

I had a Spohn chassis mount torque arm and it wouldn't clear my true duals when I put them on. So, I got a UMI torque arm relocation crossmember and their stock style torque arm. Works great.

Hello,

Unfortunately like mentioned the tunnel mounted torque arms will not clear with the TSP true duals. For the TSP set-up we recommend using our transmission mounted torque arm. This item was designed around the TSP duals to offer maximum clearance and in most cases allows you to tuck the system up tighter than the factory arm will allow. I know you already have a torque arm but I just wanted to throw this out there. I posted a link below, the link below has many pictures with the TSP installed with this torque arm.

Above is what I have with the addition of the relocation crossmember. Best of both worlds. Takes the front mount off of the tailshaft and clears the duals.

well, not gonna re-buy a tourqe arm just to get the duals to work, guess they will have to be custom fabed.

Like Ryan mentioned above, the tunnel mounted TA's don't work with our TD exhaust. It would take a custom exhaust setup to clear the body mounted TA.

It has been done, but in order to get the duals to clear the body mount TA, the pipes will either have to hang really low to pass below the cross member, or make a crazy bend to stuff together to pass through the drop in the cross member, or make some crazy bends to pass on either side of the cross member.

After selling my Spohn chassis mount TA, I used the proceeds for the new TA and cross member and ended up spending $75 out of pocket for a setup that I like much better and my TSP duals fit.

Thanx for all of the input guys. I will just hold off for now and then talk to my welding buddy at the speed shop I go to and try and have something fabbed up later cause thier is no rush.
