Default Ported LS1 TB damaged in shipping-need help

So I just bought this Jantzer ported tb off a guy on here along with a LS6 intkake and UPS damaged it during shipping. Ill post some pics but I was just wondering if the TB is screwed or if it is in some way still usable. I dont want that peice breaking the rest of the way off and get sucked into my engine.

Theres still newspaper stuck in the crack from impact.

i would just break the loose piece off, sand it smooth, and make sure you get the bellow past that point. i'd be pissed, but still run it

In this pic it looks like there is more cracking in the bottom left corner of the picture, where the ribbing starts. Might just be the angle, but it sure looks cracked.

I would try sanding it down, but since you've filed a claim with ups, don't touch it until they can evaluate it-- if you "fix" the damage, they will be less likely to reimburse you IMO.

Yeah it looks like it was cracked and then someone tried to repair it or smooth it out. idk. But yeah I already filed the claim but depending on what happens I might still use it.

Depending on what happens with the claim, thats what I was thinking of doing. I just wanting to make sure I wasnt the only one thinking that way lol. It doesnt appear to stick in anyway. It just sucks cause there goes the resale value when I decide to go to a bigger setup

UPS sucks, every package I get from them that is over 5 lbs looks like its gone through a woodchipper then ran over a few times for good measure. Somehow though my 243 heads were packaged so well by the seller that even UPS couldn't damage them even though the box was pretty f****ed up.

UPS just came buy, **** them.

They basically said I'm fucked and to keep it.

He said if I went through with the claim, they have to take the WHOLE package (so the throttle body and the intake since they were shipped together). They inspect it and if they say "yeah we damaged it, its our fault" then they send the WHOLE package back to the shipper and then he gets the money. I would have NOTHING!

And they said based on the looks of the packaging they wouldn't pay anything.

Fix it yourself or send it to Jantzer and have it machined down.

While that does suck, you can still use that TB. Carefull snap that piece off, sand the sharp edges smooth, and as long as the bellows fits over it you'll be fine.

As mentioned on our other board do NOT send this to Jantzer. You may or may not get it back within several months being that he sucks at life. It should work fine sanded smooth. Even if the blade did shift you can always fix that easily too.

If you decide to keep it, I see two options

1. break off the damaged piece and build up some JB Weld to make a replacement. I'd use a piece of masking tape on the outside of the bell to hold the shape, then put down a layer or two of JB Weld to fill to the inside edge of the bell, followed by a little filing and sanding.

2. see if you can bend the cracked piece back into place without breaking it off, then use the JB Weld to hold it in place, with a little skin on the outside to help.

You can still used it with no problems... Just snap that off and sand it down a tad... It will be fine.... If the guy put insurance on the package you should get whatever it was insured for....

He insured it but I don't get the money for it. He does. Which is retarted I from a buyer/seller stand point. But thats how UPS works.
