Keeping cats.... Loudmouth
No cats.... Borla

Both flow very well. Open Borla is essentially a cutout way downstream.
You can also make a BorlaMouth (LM w/ Borla XR-1 muffler in place of the resonator).

Go Borla either way. More money, but the loudmouth sounds like **** with LT's. even if it has cats.
Atleast borla can be quit on the street and open at the track.
Borla is a nice set up.
Good luck

gmmg, the exhaust sounds great even without cats and has less rasp than borla and has a nice deep tone to it

So ASTY99z what sounds the best borla opened up all the way with cats or no cats??

If I wanted to get good performace could I just keep my cat back and get a electric cut out? or is that not worth it?

With the borla what plate do u run in it t u run it open?

For shear performance, an elec. cutout in the "I" pipe with your existing catback is plenty fine assuming the "I" is 3".

yaa I think that it is a 3inch pipe..
So just keep the cat back that I have.. And get a cut out.??
Is the muffler holding back HP??
What schould I expect with a cut out??
Just for it to be louder?
And like 5 hp??

On my setup, I'm losing 20rwhp to a 3" Spintech muffler (still have stock 2.75" I pipe also...plus install welds at muffler are super slop). Dyno proven with open & closed cutout pulls back to back.

I ran my car without cats for 2 weeks and my white bumper started turning yellow. I have some rubber plugs that i stick in the right pipe when i want the car to be quiet. in a matter of seconds i can have open exhaust. At one point when i frequently went to the track i removed the right pipe and used it like a cutout. You also get different plates you can use to change the opening in the muffler bypass pipe. Ive even toyed around with sheet metal making my own plates. You can get an electric cutout that works with the Borla. See what i mean about options.

i have FLP's and LoudMouth. if you have a M6 and shift under 2K rpm it's not too loud on the street but start going over that and other drivers start looking at you funny. cold startups are real loud, if anyone is walking/standing behind the car it WILL to get their attention (i have scared several small childeren) i plan on going with true duals and a X pipe but that's only because i'm currently gathering parts for a TH350 swap. i would not have this exhaust with an auto.

pro's - it is a good straight through exhaust, the lightest you can go and still run it out the back

con's - it is easy for people, mainly cops, to figure out where you'r at. the only people that complain about the sound are the people behind me and those are usually the people that i have beat.

Get the Borla. The loudmouth is just that, too loud.

You will kick yourself in the *** if you get the loudmouth. I would say think back to a 77 Chevy pickup with glass backs backing off at 70mph. There you have it. Borla is frickin awesome and you can change the sound in 5 minutes. Horsepower isn't altered by th e plate changes and the tips look like no other..

I've heard a 2000 Trans Am with FLP long tubes, SLP y-pipe, Random Tech
cats and a Loud Mouth recently and it wasn't much louder (if at all) than
my 98 Z28 that only has an SLP y-pipe and Loud Mouth. Everyone keeps
saying that long tubes and a Loud Mouth sounds like crap, but I thought
the combo sounded great. I love the sound that the Loud Mouth emits. I
liked it so much, I just ordered a long tube/y-pipe/cutout set up from QTP
for mine.
If you want a mean, muscular sound that is FAIRLY loud, go for it. The Loud
Mouth would definately be cheaper if money is an issue. I believe Borla has
an adjustable system if you want to spend a tad more.
Best thing to do is to try and hear a car with each combo. Easier said than
done, but try doing a search - hopefully you will be able to make the right decision.
