Default What is the size of a stock crank bolt?

I need to know the actual thread size and length of the stock crank bolt so that I can get an extra bolt that is 1 to 2 inches longer to help in the removal and installation of the crank pulley on my LS1 Trans Am.

are you re-installing the stock pulley? That's the only reason you would need a longer bolt.

A standard 3 jaw puller will take the stock pulley off, and a standard three bolt harmonic balancer or "pulley" puller will take off the ASP or simular pulley.

Yes. I already put my stock pulley back on and it was a PITA. This is why I want a longer bolt. Also It will help to take off my ASP pulley just so I am not at the end of the threads on the crank(safer).

When you mod the car it is supposed to go faster, not slower..your car was running like a

time to the asp pulley.

It's 16mmx2mm pitch, stock length is just under 3". So probably about 75mm length.

I run a longer bolt due to my ATI hub have an inch longer shoulder inside the hub.

You can get a bolt of the same alloy from Mcmaster Carr for about $3 plus shipping, but you'll need to find a large diameter hardened washer if you want to use it as the crank bolt all the time.

They have them up to 140mm length

actually the stock size listed by GM is 16mmx2mmx103 so I went to a local Autoparts store and got a bolt that is 16mmx2mmx120.
Thanks again Harlan and 2001Pewter

Yes, 120mm long is the length you want.

M16 x 2.0 x 120mm
