Default Making custom CAI... looking for filter

I have a 2000 Z28 with the Ultra Z SLP hood and am planning on making my own CAI that will seal to the hood. Since the engine is out, I was looking at how the holes in the hood line up with the WS6 air box I currently have.... they are way off. I would like to find a large open Oval style filter that will attache drirectly to the MAF and then fab up a box that will be open in the bottom and sealed to the hood so I will get air from both the bottom and from the hood. Similar to the Volant, but since I have the Ultra Z hood, I don't think any of the off the shelf ones will seal to it.....

Anybody have a part number or source for just a big oval filter that would fit in that space?

Any advantage to this set up vs going with a FTP 85 mm Lid and my WS6 Lower?

Any kits out there that seal to the Ultra Z hood?

thanks!

Personally I would just go with an FTP lid but if your dead set on a filter you can get them through Autozone. I think they are APR filters.

Prob i am having is finding one that is oval and short and wide and has a round opening for the MAF. If i can find a used FTP 85 mm lid, I will just scoop that up and then cut bigger holes in my hood to line it up to the opening of the lower.
