I had a borla catback and it sounded great and flows way better than a flowmaster. As it has been stated if you want to go the cheap way out go for it but if you want to set your car up right from the front to the back flows shouldn't be anywhere on the list.
Because it's cheaper then replacing the whole exhaust if thats what you already have to work with. Flowmaster w/ an e cutout cost alot less than borla too(wich sounds raspy anyways).

I have a flowmaster catback on my 04 GTO and I love it. Came with an x pipe, and tips that are much more aggressive than stock. Plus I picked it up on the cheap.

Sorry, that is way too close to the "Ego" dyno...and, needless to say, neither are very accurate. These are both closely related to the "Ear" dyno which makes you think it must make more power because it sounds really cool.

I originally had a Flowmaster 40 on my 98 TA and it sounded pretty good until I cut the cats out and put long tubes on it and dropped in a hot cam. After that it got really raspy, which normally I like but it was so bad it just got annoying. Plus under full throttle the muffler actually got quieter as the rpms increased. So I switched to a Hooker Aerochamber, which is not a chambered muffler, but sounds just as good as the Flowmaster and doesn't have the irritating rasp. The Hooker also gets louder as the rpms go up. As for the power, when I pulled out of the muffler shop after getting it put on I actually felt a noticeable increase in bottom end torque, believe it or not. As for price, the Hooker costs about the same as the Flowmaster.

Yeah its cheaper that's exactly what i said if your looking for something cheap then go for it I have dual 40s on my old 88 p/u sounds good, but there are much better systems out there if your looking to get sound and performance out of these cars.

Amen. That's what I'm doing, except I'm going to take it under the axle and out back, like I did on my LT1. Sounds way better than the rasp you get with keeping a "stock style" exhaust setup, with the Y-pipe.

Friend of mine switched from a FM 80 to a Hooker and reported the same thing. But he liked the FM sound better; Hooker was too quiet for him.

they do sound great, but honestly as alot of other people say, flowmaster is very restrictive on f bodys, and it one of the cheapest out there.

Cool thanks for the info, its going on my ls1 powered Camaro. It has Hooker super comps, with 3 inch piping, H pipe, to dual Flowmaster super 44s dumped. I am not too sure how loud it will be, I might pipe it all the way to the back if its too loud. I will put a clip up when I come home after my deployment.

Look at it and you can see why it's not the best for flow.

A catback with a bullet muffler is cheap and flows well.

I have ran flowmasters on several other cars that I had. They do sound much different on the ls1. It is all in what you like though.
