Why does everyone say Flowmaster mufflers are bad?
I have always used them and love the sound but everyone is saying they are so restrictive and causing me to lose HP & TQ. I have never heard of anyone losing power do to a Flowmaster muffler.
Is there any proof to this or just peoples opinions talking?

Im with you buddy, I love the sound. I also use to have a flowmaster before I switched to true duals. My opinion is that all though you wont loose hp you may not gain as much compared to other cat back systems or mufflers. I hate when I hear people say you "loose" power though. I have track slips to prove that I didnt loose anything going from bone stock to a flowmaster cat back.
I gotta feeling this thread is gonna get real ugly real fast like it usually does!

Flowmasters sound awesome. I just get sick of hearing you lost power with those mufflers take them off.... Yet no one has had any proof that they made me lose power.

Yall don't know no better. But I personally have a GMMG and got it at a great price and wouldn't trade it for anything. Mustang and fagmaster yes but F-Body and nomaster= No Everyone have they own thing they like so I'm not going to knock what yall like out but to me it's a bunch of other catbacks out there for the win and to me sound alot better. IMO An it's not all about losing power but you can find something with a better tone than to make a V8 sound like a V6 with a different muffler. IMO

Flowmasters
Read the induction and exhaust guide up top, specially the section under cat backs.
If you like em, grab some cut outs !
QTP did cut outs on a 2010 camaro and gained 18hp over the stock exhaust.
I have a flowmaster on my 01 TA behind a 402. Though there's nothing inside it! Can be a lil raspy at WOT, but the sound is behind me
At Idle n cruise, sounds good.

I had a flowmaster muffler welded into a piece one custom 2.75in stainless catback when i bought my car. Stock tips and all. Thing sounded excellent, but even when i put a much quieter muffler on there it made more power. Therefore, they dont suck, but they have different priorities than other mufflers... if that makes sense.

When i had my 99T/A i had the flowmaster and i loved it. Now i have them on my GTO and i still love them.
All i wanted to know was if there was any proof that Flowmaster made you lose power. I think its a bunch of BS, but will see if someone proves me wrong.

people say the "lose power" ( and yes you do suck man lol j/k *response for page 2*) about the flowmaster 80 series muffler compared to some other catbacks and mufflers.
a flowmaster catback/muffler will give more horse power and tourque over a stock catback/muffler.
like what davidws6 said if you like the sound and want more power put a cut out but many people like them sound wise.

Ok Ill bite NO you dont necessarily loose power by using flowmasters BUT... The reason that you put an exhaust on your car isn't strictly to improve the weak factory sound but to also ADD power... Why would you put something on your car/truck etc. that wouldn't give you the best all around performance/gain for the money. So no for those of you that dish out approx 25k for a GTO if you feel comfortable putting a 75$ muffler or $300 kit on it thats not going to "loose" power then go right ahead but Im sure that there is a reason that people spend the money to GAIN power with a better performing system.

lots of information points towards the crossflow mufflers, 80 series on our cars,
i'm installing 2 10 series mufflers on mine, straight through design shouldnt hurt flow / numbers and should add a classic muscle sound !

i have a flowmaster catback on my 2000 Z and like the sound but i have an electric cutout for when i race. flowmaster makes great mufflers and they sound damn good but the only one that isnt very good from them is the crossflow muffler.
i have 2 flowmaster super 40's on my 73' cutlass olds and the sound is amazing and they flow pretty well also!

My only issue I had with them was they rusted out fast at the welds. Out of 2 camaros and 3 TA's Mine always rusted nasty at the welds. As people stated I wanted the sound and performance at a cheap price. You cant beat a flowmaster at low cost and sound.
