Default Magnaflow

I have a 4" straight through Magna Mufflex system and cruising it's a nice low tone.
WOT or accel, a lil raspy.

If the car had Cats, might tone it down a lil.

It came on some Dual /Dual systems from the factory. It is a disc in the drivers side tail pipe that has a little hole in it to allow smoke to come out so it looks like both pipes flow but it essentially blocks the drivers tail pipe to reduce noise. If you have it, It is located at the muffler outlet where it mets the begining of the drivers side tailpipe. To test and see if you have one, have someone rev the engine while you are back there and feel if both pipes flow equally. Like I said before at idle you will see smoke from the tip but thats just for show, you need to rev and feel if the pressure is equal between tailpipes. The second test is measure the length of the tailpipe from the muffler the run a piece of wire or coat hanger down it and see if it stops. Unless somehow you can unclamp that tail pipe , you will have to take it to a muffler shop and have cut off the tailpipe ,remove the disc then weld the tailpipe back on. Good luck, hope you don't have it.

I like the hooker aerochamber muffler, but I was trying to keep this cheap as in just replacing the magnaflow muffler.

No, Magnaflow is a straight-through muffler with a kind of diverter inside. Under low flow conditions, most of the exhaust flows through the one pipe, and when flow increases, more is diverted to the other pipe.

I ordered the Dynomax last week, I put it on today and so far so good! You can still tell it's a H/C car, just not as loud.

I just ordered a Heartthrob cat back for 99 with longtubes and Y pipe. I will let you how it sounds. I know their HVS mufflers remove the drone and sound good.

Quick Reply: I need a muffler that is quiet and flows good ???
