One reason is that they keep pushing back the release date so no one is getting them. Also, I believe the ones they shipped to some vendors were short some parts like gaskets, etc. so that the vendors could only check them out not test (I could be totally wrong on that though - thats just what I heard).

I think Thunder Racing got one but it didn't have the gaskets which goes along with what Classic said.

Either they ran into some problems on testing
Or
They found out that it doesn't outperform the LS6 by that much (If it does).

Something is fishy !!

I've been assuming January availability based on what I had heard from folks working at FAST.

No need for a 90mm TB? Speak for yourself. With big cubes and a better intake manifold, a stock sized TB is a HUGE restriction.

Here's an interesting tidbit. I picked up 35 RWHP by going from an 80mm BBK to a 105mm Holley. Yes, 35 RWHP with no other changes. That engine makes over 600 RWHP though. Had I been starting with a 90mm TB, I still believe there would have been some good power gained by going to the 105mm.

ok, i guess i should have finished the statement. 99% of f ls1 owners are not pushing 600 horsepower (thats freakin awsome by the way! ) therfore the market for such a product my be better sold on a speacial order basis. But fortunatly for them, there are a lot of ls1 owners who have money to throw away on new set ups every three months (must be nice) but for the genral ls1 owner, it is going to be one of those items we talk about being a cool thing to have but will probably never have.

so i guess all i realy ment was most of us are to cheap or poor to buy an over priced (yes it is over priced, just like most ls1 parts) performance part that with mostly stock motors will yeild little to now gains.

but yes this is just my little opinion and i have been known to rant when i have had a few to many

BUT DAMN, 600 HP!!! only in my dreams

"but for the genral ls1 owner, it is going to be one of those items we talk about being a cool thing to have but will probably never have."

I'm the same way after a few too many Or when I'm hyped up on my morning coffee like I am right now. It's all good.

Lemme butt heads with you if you don't mind.

You don't have to make 600 RWHP to benefit from a 90mm TB. Read my post again, you need 600 RWHP to gain 35 RWHP by going from an 80mm TB to a 105mm TB. That 105mm TB was some of the cheapest power I've bought for that monster motor.

From my calculations, a 90mm TB should support about 618 RWHP without any significant pumping losses. For a 75mm throttle body we're looking at only 429 RWHP without noteworthy losses. IMO, any seriously strong heads/cam engine, or especially a larger cube engine, stands to make nice gains from a 90mm TB when coupled with a 90mm intake manifold.

Many of the same people that will fork out the dough for the LSX intake will also put up the change for a 90mm TB to complement it. They'll sell plenty.

I think it is supposed to retail for $795. About twice the price of an LS6 intake. If they work well, I'll buy one. If you already own an LS6 intake, you could sell it for $300 used to recover some of the costs.

the reason there has been no outside testing is because no shop has one, nor has a shop suppose to have one..the one TR had was just brought down there to display for their open house..it was never met to be tested

There was alot of hype in the beginning. Alot of people have them on order and are just waiting for their release next month. So this is probably the calm before the storm Prices range from about $775.for the 78mm version to $869. for the 90mm.

I just spoke to them at PRI. They just recived the first batch and have given out a few for testing. Katech has one in thier hands and will be testing it later this week. Jeremy from Fasterproms.com has a contact and will hopefully be updated when this happens. I believe Lingenfelter and one or two others has one as well.

I believe the actual ship date is set at mid January right now for the general public.
