Slp Ram Air induction system
I have a 2000 ws6 a4. I was looking in to the Slp ram air induction system(lower air box) on thunder racing part # 28-21033. They say its not reccommened for a ws6 or ss. I called slp they told me its a great mod for ws6 or ss it adds 10 rwhp. So whats the deal? Does this slp product suck air from the hood and under the car; thunderracing told me it only sucks from the bottom? I am confused as hell? please help me. Slp also told me they do not know why thunder racing would not reccommend this on a ws6 or ss

If you're talking CAI (Cold Air Induction), it feeds from
below, you have to modify the air box (cut away the
floor) and the radiator ducting panel. It may be 10HP
for a non-SS because of the reduced air temp but it
raised my IAT on an SS, over original by 5-10 degrees.
It gets hot sitting in traffic. I cut off most of mine and
made it draw more from the nose space and IATs are
now back to 2-3F above ambient. This way I have more
than doubled the inlet area for the airbox and it's a
shorter path than the SS roundabout hood duct.
In its retail form I think it's more solid construction,
but thermally inferior to the other options (FTRA /
SSRA), it also was an unacceptable radiator airflow
obstruction due to my trans cooler's location.
Used ones are a good deal since there's nothing you
can do to break it, and they usually go for about half
price if you're patient.
