Default Getting Pissed off!!!!

ok well about a month or two ago i replaced the oil pan gasket with the GM metal gasket, everything was fine no leaks. Now its leaking from the drivers side up front and i dont kno why? could it be the timing chain cover seal took a **** on me?? cause i can see where the oil is coming from the front of the motor and the passenger side is completely dry but the underside of the pan is wet and the tranny is also. I checked the bolts and all are tight i dont know why its leaking though???

hopefully you did not use any silicone sealer on the gasket....

Possibly a front crank seal or where the timing cover gasket meets the oil pan.

make sure the valve cover is not leaking and running down the side of the motor. that is a long shot but worth double checking. Spray it down with a **** ton of brake clean and start it up and see where it is coming from.

nope no silicon sealer was used, all i did was cleaned the surface off the pan and block then riveted the new gasket on and put it up there. Hand tightened the bolts and it was fine no leaking and then all of a sudden it starts up again, but the weird thing is there is no oil around the pan gasket just on the bottom of the pan and i can see up front where it seems to be leaking from the bottom drivers side corner of the timing chain cover. is there a dye or something i can put in my oil to see exactly where it is coming from?

Start by cleaning the area well and then check it frequently so you find the source. You're probably right with the front seal but clean and check first.

ok well it wasnt the front seal, apparently we missed the minor crack in the front of the pan by one of the bolt holes that i guess the fucktard that did my oil pan by overtightening the bolt with an airgun no doubt before we got to it. So basically changed the gasket for nothing, but im JB welding it since its so small but causes such a fuckn mess.
