too loud, what now?
my 02 z28 is pushing right at 12:1 compression and i need to quiet it down (long tubes, ory & single chamber muffler) without spending too much $. I need to get it inspected so i welded in two high flow cats which worked out ok but was a real pain in the ***. i was hoping this would help quiet it down but there was no change at all. so, im thinking of adding something in the y pipe, any ideas of a muffler or resonator that would fit in the y and bring my decibles down?

well i checked out a couple of bullets i could run in the I pipe but i dont think they will help queit anythying down, they seem more like resonators then mufflers.
you might be right, changing the muffler out may be the only way to change the loudness to something more bearbale, any recommentations on what muffler to replace my single chamber with?

I recommend the Heartthrob HVS muffler. I just put their cat back system on my Camaro. It is fun to drive again because I'm not being droned out and deafened by the obnoxious sound. I have Hooker long tubes and Y pipe in front of the cat back. I had the SLP 1 cat back.

i had to grind down my welds then reweld both cats since i had leaks all over the damn place (i'm just learning to weld). once it was back on and all buttoned up i was pleasently surprised by the sound, its not much quiter but the rasp is completly gone and the sound is a bit deeper.

Go with the Borla ProXS Mufflers they are the quietest and the most powerfull. Makes more HP than the cutouts.
