If you have LS1edit, you can adjust your MAF table so the ported MAF will work correctly. But why do it? The stock MAF is good for up to around 600 hp.

I hand-ported mine with no problems. It can be bad though. Fluid dynamics of a part are not easily forecasted by the average garage mechanic. Anytime you change the airflow you are taking chances and hoping it does what you're expecting. I had slight gains with my ported ends. I didn't do a TB though so I don't know what that would do to my car. Hand-ported MAF with an MAFT has been a winning combo for me. (Granted I wouldn't have touched the MAF had I read more about other's experiences before I did it; I naturally heard only good things until I did it, then the story changed everywhere I looked )

Keep the ported ends / home porting. Solder in a 1k ohm 1/2 watt resistor between the two bars on the same side. If youre still acting funky, go back to stock.

Gotta tell 'ya - I've now got SLP MAF (85mm) and ported Jantzer TB. Believe it or not - I couldn't be happier. No problems, response is WAY GOOD. Maybe I'm an exception to the rule - but I'm a happy exception.

I too am A4 with Tbyrne ported MAF ends. I put my friends stock ends on after reading one of these posts and the car was weak as hell. It lost its pep and jump from throttle response. I put my Byrnes back on and left it that way. Then again, every car IS different.

If your car is rich from the factory , then the ends will lean it out a little and make more power. If your car is tuned just right from the factory then dont use the maf ends as you will get knock retard and a little lean.

Yeah, its all chance whether or not ported ends or a whole new MAF sensor will improve power output. If it doesn't help, you just wasted a bunch of money. Not worth the chance IMO.
