I hand-ported mine with no problems. It can be bad though. Fluid dynamics of a part are not easily forecasted by the average garage mechanic. Anytime you change the airflow you are taking chances and hoping it does what you're expecting. I had slight gains with my ported ends. I didn't do a TB though so I don't know what that would do to my car. Hand-ported MAF with an MAFT has been a winning combo for me. (Granted I wouldn't have touched the MAF had I read more about other's experiences before I did it; I naturally heard only good things until I did it, then the story changed everywhere I looked

Gotta tell 'ya - I've now got SLP MAF (85mm) and ported Jantzer TB. Believe it or not - I couldn't be happier. No problems, response is WAY GOOD. Maybe I'm an exception to the rule - but I'm a happy exception.
I too am A4 with Tbyrne ported MAF ends. I put my friends stock ends on after reading one of these posts and the car was weak as hell. It lost its pep and jump from throttle response. I put my Byrnes back on and left it that way. Then again, every car IS different.
If your car is rich from the factory , then the ends will lean it out a little and make more power. If your car is tuned just right from the factory then dont use the maf ends as you will get knock retard and a little lean.
