I personally feel any MAF mod is pointless and can be risky. Some cars react nicely to MAF mods, others go retarded with them. The ported TB is a good buy though.
Like the other guys said though, are you M6 or A4? If I remember correctly the A4 is what tends to not like MAF mods the most.

I don't understand why everyone is so antsy to modify the MAF sensor. It's great right from the factory and stock it can handle up to 450rwhp. If you absolutly have to mess with it, just remove the screen. I wouldn't even do that though, cheap insurance if something gets past your air filter.

When I took my car to be tuned at Speed Inc after cam install, they put stock maf ends back on. They said that my ported ported ends would not give a consistent signal to the computer (my a/f ratios were all over the place). They said they have stock maf's on 500 hp cars so I figure it's good enough for my ride.
I don't know if it's fact or fiction about the trans taking a crap on a4's after this mod. But it just so happened that within 1k miles of my port job the trans took a crap (yes, it's an a4). Just a cooincidence?

i wish i would have known about this site a year ago when i bought my granattelli(?spelling?)85mm mass air senser!! i had no idea that it wasnt good. but i dont seem to be having any trouble with it. what exactly does it do thats so "harmful" i hope i can find a stock one to replace it. i dont drive it much in the winter anyways...so it can wait awhile

i had the slp and it was horrible and i have taken everything else slp off my car due to the fact that i cant stand them. i have ported ends on a m6 and the car was tuned for it at part and wide open throttle. i oculd tell the pickup got a lot better after that and the air could flow in great. im just wondering what the big deal is if the car is tuned not to run lean? i know so many people using these and are puttin out good numbers. is it just the lean condition that is the problem? cause if thats it why cant the computer just be programed to fix it? everone also tells me the TB are good to flow for however many hp and well between these two mods if u get 10 rwhp thats 10 rwhp u didnt have before and IMO every damn little bit i can get is great. i dont care if the stocker CAN flow for that much power either way its restricting the air flow to an extent, the easier the motor can get air in the better....just do it right and itll be fine. my friends have had them on for over 1 and 2 years and are doing great, along with me. track times are great for the mods as well as dyno numbers.
