Default FAST 92/92 or LS6

I'm going full bolt-ons minus an EWP and I can pick up a FAST 92/92 combo WITH 42lb injectors for just under 1k. If all I had planned for my car was bolt-ons I'd buy an LS6 and leave it at that, but I'll be camming my car this summer and would like to have the FAST for that. I know this is a great deal, but should I pick up an LS6 for ~$275 or go ahead with the FAST? I like to think ahead, but this is another $600 over a LS6 that I may not even feel a difference over in the end.

buy the fast n injectors and keep it til you cam it!
Why pay for tuning twice? Just throw it all in at once!
Just my .02
goodluck!

Well I'm throwing headers, TSP catted-y, and the FAST on with a new clutch in one weekend and I'm having it tuned the week after, but my only concern is that with 42lb injectors with no tune I'll have to tow it to RPM for tuning. After the initial tune, there are unlimited re-dyno tunes for $50 each time so I'm not worried about wasting tuning money when I do my cam 7 or 8 months later.

i picked up 18hp and 12ftlbs with my home ported FAST 90/90 over my LS6 and ported TB...

back to back dyno runs, same day, tuned for each...so the gain was from the intake.

and that was CAM ONLY!

so YES its worth it for the FAST.

lightly port it yourself with a dremel, no need to go crazy, just smooth out the inside of the runners.

I talked to my good friend selling it and told him I'd go ahead and pick it up at tax time next month so I guess we'll see what it does. Thanks for the input litle88

Those are pretty good gains. We have an amazing porter @ RPM of Garner, NC named MIZZY that I may have port it for the cam but for now I just hope the car gets in the upper 300's at the rollers with bolt-ons.

read all about it...with graphs

i was very pleased with the results.

lost no power down low, rather gained it...noticably.
also moved my peak torque DOWN 500rpm.

and even though the cam is peaking at 6400...it still showed considerable gains.

the port job was minimal. never seperated the intake, was just what i could reach with a dremel.

YOur welcome!
Just have them install the injectors before the tune, it only takes about 30 minutes, instead of a tow (unless you got a hook up with that).
Dont forget to PORT it unless it already is.
Do you know what cam you want yet?

I have a line on a F14 cam. I want to run mid-11's cam-only once I pick up a 9". I don't plan on porting it though. My good friend has an 01 SS with the F14, M6, cartek clutch, u/d, and a Moser 9" running consistent 11.50's @ 119 with his stock LS6 intake. I wouldn't plan on a FAST if I couldn't get it for such a good deal.

Just found out I could pick up some GREAT shape coated pacesetters from my same good friend for $150 more, so for $1100 I can get the FAST 92/92 with 42lb injectors and coated Pacesetters. Now we're talkin' lol.

that will be some serious upgrade.

really should consider at least a mild port job on the intake. an hour with a dremel can do wonders.

I just don't want to mess it up trying to port it. I don't feel comfortable doing it myself.

Congrats on finding a good deal on everything. I would've agreed on getting the FAST from the beginning. there have been some good deals out there on them lately. good luck with the build.

Thanks buddy! I want to see how far I can take this car cam-only and that was another factor that influenced the decision. I'm not going "max-effort" by stripping weight or anything like that, but I would like to be mid-11's cam-only. Thanks again.

Both are proven and a ported fast definately makes more power...all depends on if you willing to pay the fast's price tag...i wasnt.
