M6: Lid, Cut-out, Headers, Cam, free mods
If you do all the installs yourself and buy some used parts, you'll easily be under $1000 and easily in the low 12s or lower.
I'm working on doing all of that stuff as we speak, and I've got a TSP lid, cut-out, (working on) MAC headers, a T1 cam and all the free mods. For a total of apx. $750. Throw in an ASP Pulley and that'll bring your total closer to $1000.
If you've got an A4, then substitute the cam and pulley for a good Torque Converter and it should be just as fast and cost about the same.
