Default Best plugs and wires for the ls1

Which plugs and wires would you recommend using for the ls1? Do wires do anything for performance? Any info would be helpful thanx.

My car seemed to actually idle better and run smoother after the addition of my MSD wires along with new AC Delco Copper plugs. I got rid of the crap factory Delco Platinums. I put an ohmeter on my stock wires and they had .750 while my new MSD 8.5mms had .25!!!!!!

Seems like the NGK TR-55's gapped at .050 are the best plug for the LS1. The MSD 8.5s or the Taylor's are the best. Good Luck

Anyone try the NGK TR-55 Iridium IX plugs? Are they worth the $7 each?

TR55s here, + Taylor Thundervolt wires. Screw the stock wires, LOL MSDs or any of the Taylor series wires will be perfect. You won't notice any difference between either Taylor or MSD most likely. I got in on a deal for thundervolts plus TR55s for 74 bucks, so I went with them. No experience with the iridium plugs.

MSD 8.5 super conductor wires and NGK TR55's work well with my stock manifolds-heads-cam setup. I gapped the $2.50 NGK's @.055. ,Fred

Have the Taylor 409 race wires and they really helped smooth out the idle along with the TR55's

Taylor thundervolts here too 10.4 mm for $65 and TR55's are cheap can't remember the price on those though. I don't think there will be any serious gains here (plug wires), but I was changing them any way so I looked at several and they were the nicest one's IMO.

I have had the Iridium IX plugs for over a year now. I pulled one last month - looked good. Not sure yet if the extra cost is worth it. I hoping I'll get more life out of them then the copper 55's. So far so good.

Iridiums probably not worth the money. Buddy of mine snapped an electrode while gapping one. $7 down the tubes.
I have dyno proven benefits from MSD wires. I always run NGK TR55's. Dyno graph was choppy until I added wires. Smoothed it out with the exact same graphing table.
My MSD's (two sets now) have had to have 1/4 trimmed off the boot so it will snap on.

I have the TR55IXs on my desk right now,
will be adding them soon. BTW you can get them for 6.22 if you look around

And for the guy who broke one, you don't gap them the same as the old plugs.
