Default Determining ls6 block year for head studs

Ok guy i have searched and can not find an answer to my question about my block.

I was told it was an 04 z06 ls6 block, and it is an ls6 but how can i find out what year it is. I am about to swap my heads for some AFR 225's and need to get some arp head studs but dont no if i need the pre 04 or the 04 and up head studs.

Does anyone know how i could find this out from a casting number or something?

stick something down in the holes. if the two in the middle row on the ends are shallower than the ones inboard of thoes, then you have an 03 block, if they are the same depth, you have an 04 block.

If you have an 02+ LS6 block, you'll be using the short studs.

you mean the long ones? i know it holds true on the ls1's that the 04 + blocks had long bolts all the way around i beleive it was 04. the earlier blocks like my 98 have 2 short bolts.

yes i do know this but its my Daily Driver so i am trying to get everything ordered so i can do all of this in a weekend. Thats why i need to know for sure.

As for the 02+ ls6 blocks are you saying the back to are shorter or they are the same size? which would mean i need the 04 and up studs?

Thanks guys keep the info coming please

Are you sure of this because when you go to order you can order pre 04, or 04 and up.

the pre 04 has the two shorther ones in the back, and the 04 and up kit has all the same size.
