What header gaskets and bolts do you use???

Default What header gaskets and bolts do you use???

I have hooker headers and about two months ago i got an xhaust leak, it wasnt bad but now its freakn annoying. i replaced the thick gaskets that were on the car w/oem gm gaskets and bolts and that didnt do the trick. now i just want my car back, what gaskets and bolts keeps y'all quiet??

Stock GM gaskets and ARP header studs here...

also does anybody run lock washers on there header bolts? should i get shorter bolts?

Why would you want shorter bolts? So it is easier to strip out the threads in the heads?

i was thinking that my hookers were thinner than stock, maybe thats why my leak keeps coming back, i would do ne thang for it to stop its so dang annoying.

I see what you are getting at...I'd seriously look into header studs. The stock GM gaskets are really very nice.

man im begging like a step kid gettn a whooping from his step dad while mama at work for this leak to stop, its leaking on both sides, sounds like a clock under the hood. ima go order the arp's and pray that works i got some lock washers for headers at advanced auto debating on using em'

i used brand new gm gaskets and re-used some of the original bolts even. are you tightening from the center out?

so should i NOT use the gaskets hooker sent me with the header purchase...what about the bolts they sent me....also i have been told to use the gaskets that are already on the car and it will be fine is this true ? and how should i tighten them because i dont want to strip anything

no i wasnt aware of the center out method, i am taking my time cuz i dont want to strip any of them, ive been reasearching and the stage 8 lockling bolts seem to be good and a favorite as well as arp
