I thought Fluidamper was out of business, although I still see their products in Summit and Jegs. Anyway, last year I had a problem with my Fluidamper whan I tried to install one on one of my other cars. Rather than throw it away, I called them up and asked if I could send it back to them for a repair, at my cost.
It was hard to get a hold of someone over there, but I finally did. When I asked him about repairing my Fluidamper, he indicated that Fluidamper had just declared bankruptcy, and they were not accepting any more repairs. He said I was lucky that I just didn't send it in, as he had a bunch of them that he was going to have to sort through and send back.
He said that the company was currently looking for a buyer for the Fluidamper products. Maybe they found one. I don't know. All I know is I have a $350 paperweight. If they are around, I might give them a call again and see if they can help me out.
I decided to take it off, but at that point the damage was already done. The Fluidamper must have gotten a little cockeyed, as it now had a nasty "ridge" in the bore, and it is galled terribly. I have no idea how it could have happened, as I had the proper tool, and lubricated crank shaft with antisieze. I have installed and remove several dampers with this tool before successfully, although I never used it with a Fluidamper.
I took it to a machine shop to see if they could machine the ridge out, which they were able to take some of it out, but not all. They were very reluctant to do this, and told me several times that I should send it back for proper repair. Because of this, I had my stock one rebuilt, and re-installed it.
Anyway, I might give them a call again, and see if they can help me out, if they are around.
