the Dr. Gas X pipe and Boom tube showed up last week and sat on my porch until I got back in town from the holidays. I was expecting to get a beat up piece of junk that had been run around taladega at 200mph but this one is in excelent condition. Not a single scratch on it. It is HEAVY though. I would not doubt it if it weighs as much as the entire cat back flowmaster thats on the car now. For shipping they had all of the ends capped off, and as soon as I pulled the caps off all you could smell was race gas.
the exit of the tube is "1 wide and "20 inches long and has 6 individual outlets inside of the one big out let. As far as I can tell, gound clearence is going to be great with this. the ovalized tubing really helps out with this.
I havent had a chance to take any pictures of it yet but I will do that tonight.

yeah, the thread is kind of useless without pics. But I was pretty excited about it. It is going to be a while before I get the boom tube on though. I have to get the motor put back together and get the oil and diff coolers in. I almost want to wait until Feb. to do it though. My first emmisions test is then and I have a feeling that rolling up to the test facility with a boom tube would get me laughed out of there.

Did you click the link on top of the pic?
"Dr. Gas Boom Tubes
All Dr. Gas Boom Tubes are assembled and tack welded together. Finish seam and plug welding is done by the end user. The assemblies are formed from cold rolled sheet steel. The inlet adapters and shells are supported internally by one or more ribs. All dual inlet boom tubes have a common chambered box section, for even flow, and one last chance to promote scavenging. All ribs feature NACA duct shaped vent holes. No additional milling or drilling is needed. The inlet adapters all match to standard 2 ½" x 4" oval tubing. All boom tubes are designed to meet NASCAR's 11"/22" opening rule. MUFFLER BOOM TUBES for Winston West and Truck Series are available for noise restriction tracks"

Yes, I did. Like I said it seems to be some sort of muffler...
How does it work as opposed to traditional mufflers? Does it flow better? How does it sound in comparison to mufflers? How does it compare to resonators or twister style mufflers? Is it simply to save space?

The big thing about the boom tube is how well they flow. They are also made by the absolute best exhaust builder in the nation, so you get very high quality. with the equal length X pipe you get extremely good scavanging of the exhaust and the internal NACA style ducting on the boom tube scavanges even more.
It really isnt a muffler by any means. They are loud as hell. On a scale of 1-10 as far as being loud this will "probably" be around a 14. Dont know yet. In a nut shell: Pipes right off the headers to the X pipe, X pipe goes into the boom tube, boom tube exits under passenger side door. Since my car sees more track time than street time, it will be a bit more livable. But on the occasional outing, Jonny Law Dog will frown on the set up.

is that something for duals or just the one side? id like to look into that for my 3rd gen. i think it would look good with the ground effects being flat on the bottoms but i would want both sides, have to make sure everyone can hear me from either side
