Default bog after LT header install

Well it's been 5 days since I had my headers installed.. It's been running good since tonight.. All the sudden out of the middle of nowhere it started to feel like the car was running rich.. I can feel it in the gas pedal.. Could this be due to bad o2 sensors? I'm only running the 2 fronts which I made a homemade extension.. I'm thinking of purchasing 2 bosch 13111's and just throwing those on.. Any suggestions or comments would help.. And is it ok to drive like this for a few days??

Thanks

Did you throw any codes? A less than ideal air/fuel condition is often the result of O2 sensor issues.

It's time to look into getting that thing tuned.

Although a tune is helpful in getting closer to the ideal conditions, an LT install shouldn't result in any RADICAL drivability issues including bogging, surging, cutting off etc.

I agree it shouldn't be that drastic. @tx3, have you checked your plugs since the install? Maybe cracked the porcelain on one when putting the lt's in?....

If it's only rich, then it shouldn't be a problem. If it's bucking and bogging I would reconsider, that way I'm not stuck on the side of the road or, breaking something that could have been prevented.

could be plugs but if it was working good until now I would say the O2s are funny. Maybe check your extensions or get new ones. Does it work ok at WOT?

Plugs are good. Checked the wires.. Wouldnt my SES light blink if it was misfiring?

When I hit WOT, it seemed fine.. I just didnt hit too high of an RPM.. maybe 4500 tops.. Seemed fine.. Just on the lower RPM's the gas pedal just felt like it was running rich.. I'll do a full check over this weekend... And run some codes.. Hopefully it's just some O2's which I can order.. If not ill have to do some plugs and order some boot protectors..

Im a firm believer in Keep It Simple Stupid or K.I.S.S

Check engine light on?

Go to autozone and have them scan it for error codes. 9x out of 10 Itll throw some kind of 02 related code.

Then buy the 02 extensions. they are alot cheaper than 2 new 02 sensors In my experiences with what ive seen, homemade extensions tend to fail. Thats sensitive stuff. If i remember correctly, anytime you have a bad connection to, or bad 02 sensors, it runs rich. save yourself the $150.00 on 02's and replace those homemade things with the 02 extensions. Clear the codes and drive around, see if the light comes on again.

other possibilities could be you cracked the engine coolant temp sensor, located on the driver side cylinder head near the front. That too would cause u to run rich. thats a 20-30 dollar fix.

Thank you TA driver. I figured the problem would be my o2 sensors. Gonna go run the code tomorrow..

Welp, i didnt run the code.. But I heard some backfire .. And I checked my plugs again and saw that the passenger side 1st plug wire is melted a bit and was Arcing on the header.. So Im replacing the wire and putting some boot protectors.. Problem solved!

I'd look into new o2 sensors soon..... They still may be fine but a fresh set with headers never hursts especially because your are probably the originals. Get either the bosch ones like you suggested or I picked up some oem densos from amazon for the same price as the bosch part no. 234-4617

Do they have the same length as the Bosch's? The 13111's dont need extensions, but do the densos?
