Also, I tried taking off both belts and still had the same problem. The people at gm said they have never heard anything like what my car is doing. I guess I will just let them do what they think they need to do. Hopefully I will have my car back before too much longer though. I'm starting to have LS1 withdrawls!

This is very interesting, what inside the motor would cause a chirping sound? maybe one of the bolts that sits behind the cam shaft gear backed out and the gear is rubing it. Just a guess, I know it's highly unlikely.

Engine is out of the car and GM has begun teardown. They told me that if all goes well, I should have my car back by next Friday. Still don't know exactly what the problem was, won't know until they get the engine tore down. I'll keep everyone posted.

I made an appointment this tuesday, I'm taking it down there Sunday night so they can work on it Monday morning. I've been debating wether or not to get the extended warranty before mine runs out.. I guess if they start messing with me and dont fix it then I'll just buy it.

Good luck, hopefully it's nothing too serious. I wasn't expecting mine to turn out the way it did. I might end up with a new engine, who knows? Again, good luck.

Dropped the car off tonight, I'll let you know if I have any different results. Hopefully it's not as serious as yours! My backup lights never worked anyway so I put down for them to take a look at that also..... I hate leaving my baby somewhere other than my garage....

Well they say they don't hear the noise, they want to keep it overnight and "try it again". I don't know but when I drove it down there last night it was doing it, it's done it for the past year and a half or so... we'll see what happens tomorrow.

They did fix my backup lights though, bad switch on the tranny....

I know how you feel. I've been without mine for over a week now. I really would rather it be parked outside of my house than at the dealership. What really sucks is they won't call me with any info, I have to keep calling them. I guess they don't understand how I feel about my car!

Picked the car up tonight, they said the mechanic didn't hear anything unusual. Drove it home and it's definitely still making the noise. So now I have to drop it off this Sunday again and then go on a ride with the mechanic Monday morning so I can point the noise out to him... I don't really know how you can miss it, it's the noise that's there between 2 and 3k rpm that isn't there any other time, and it goes away after 10 minutes of driving. Now my car has mist spots all over it cause it sat outside for two days and it's been foggy as hell here. It's all in the zaino though so it shouldn't be too tough to get the spots out...

They tried the same thing with me the first time I took my car in to them. I did the same thing you are going to do. Parked it overnight, went in first thing in the morning and started it up. There was no way they could deny hearing it then. Don't let them get away with it....especially since your warranty is almost expired.

Well... talked to the dealership the other day. They said that after teardown they could find nothing physically wrong. They said everything was within tolerances but they are going to change the engine anyway? Not sure why, if nothing is wrong but I'm not complaining. Just waiting for the engine to get here from the plant and then they are going to install it. I should have my car back by Friday.

They said they took both belts off and it still made the noise. So they ruled out the belts and pullies and decided it was internal. I'm like alot of other people on here, don't really understand how a chirp could be internal. However, they are doing what they think they need to do. I will be happy as long as it's fixed.

Well.... I finally got my car back Friday. The engine was here on Tuesday and it took them 4 days to install it. Anyway, seems to be fixed, noise is gone. And I must say, that brand new LS6 block looks bad ***! Nice and shiny! They still don't know what was causing the noise and I guess we will never know. Oh well, I got a new engine out of it so I am happy. I can't wait for the 500 mile break-in to be over so I can get on it. I just installed my TSP lid and don't even know if it made a difference or not.

I would invest in an automotive stethiscope(I don't think that's how it's spelled) I have used my many times and helps find the source of little noises like that.. I think they are like 9.99 or something like that.. Glad to hear everything is fixed tho.
