cutout and power loss?
i've heard different views from everyone...some say you lose power, some say you gain power. well i just put a cutout on my car, on the i-pipe, before the overaxle pipe, and i am completely stock. i don't know if there is a difference in power at all. i am running 275/40/17's in the back, and i barely spin the tires at all on good road. i have an '00 Z. anyone have any conclusions?

Your power curve just shifted up on the rpm spectrum.
You've lost low end torque available, but the peak torque is most probably higher (only now that it probably peaks between 4000-5000 rpm).
Your peak hp and tq #'s most probably increased. It's just the lack of low end makes it feel slower, but your et's will be better.

ah, makes sense. it does *seem* stronger up top in the rpm band. it's an m6 too, and i just got the car about a week ago, and before i was driving a damn v6 camaro. so i have a lot to get used to 275/40/17 is a lot of tread also, for a stock ls1.
