Default Truck & F-body alternator the same? Would it work?

I have a 2000 LS1 motor that's going into my 1970 Corvette. I need an alternator and was wondering if the one from the trucks is the same as the one from the F-bodys. (I can get a truck alternator cheap.)

Also, I want to mount it high on the drivers side (which the trucks do), but the bracket on my '00 5.3 truck includes the power steering pump, which I won't be using on the Vette. Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Matt

well the vette alternator braket is mounted high and you might check into the police package alternator in the event the truck one dosn't work.
