Default Is there a flywheel dowel pin?

Long story short, I got a LS1 for my project car that originally had a 4l60e. It is now fetting a T56, the flywheel and crankshaft both have a hole for a line-up pin or dowel pin which I dont have. I called GM, they say there is no pin there, but it seems there should be one. Does you car have one?

thanks

I dont remember where I found it. it wasn't a specific part. I believe I just measured the hole in the crank and was lucky to find a metal dowel that fit perfectly. I then cut it to length and tapped it into the crank.

You dont need a pin. Dont reinvent the wheel here. Just get ARP flywheel bolts if you need some kind of peace of mind, they are cheap.

It is not necessary, some LSx models came with them and some didn't. I can get them for you if you want one, but I wouldn't bother.

On the contrary....My SFI flexplate was slightly moveable on the crank hub. I used the dowel pin for alignment purposes. And I decided it wasnt hurting anything to leave it there. Not everything is so simple sometimes.

In this case yes its that simple. If you feel the need for a dowel pin, go for it. I myself wouldnt want to put any thing on the crank that wasnt there from the factory.

Maybe your SFI flexplate requires one because they didnt machine the opening on the crank to the right size, if it was loose they should supply a pin really.

I have ARP bolts and I'm not real worred about it, but if it was suposed to be there, I wanted one, if I dont need it, then I'll stick together without it.
