For Power and strictly just POWER Numbers.

Fast 90/90 or 92/92 set up will make more.

BUT for the Cost vs what your doing with the car an LS6 can do A LOT when it comes to an improvement.

I had a 90/90 Ported From Vengence and I went back to a LS6 as mine was a 2002, Stock Headed, 228/230 Cam and honestly I never felt any difference but I am sure it is 3-5 hp diff on a stock motor.

When I go bigger heads, more compression, or bigger cubes then the Fast will go on. But this time around it would be a 92/92 at min.

Whoever you were talking is simply ignorant at this point, and is either purely guessing or buying into internet myths.

I had the FAST 92/92 combo, it made 21rwhp over my LS2 intake on my stock LQ9 with a whopping .470" lift and low 200s duration. I even had stock exhaust manifolds and a stock air intake. The FAST intakes have made power from 3500+ RPM on every single engine I have ever tested them on! Not one has lost torque anywhere, or was "too big".

Its the people who really dont understand much that look at this new intake and say "102mm, its too big for stock cubes". The 102mm has ZERO to do with "too big" when it comes to making power! The internal runners (length, taper, etc) are what determine if its correct for your engine. NOT the throttle body opening!

The 102mm LSXR will still fit a 92mm throttle body if it concerns you, I run a 90mm throttle body on my 102mm LSXR.

The 102/92 combo has already shown to make more power than the 92/92 combination, because it has new runners, not because its a 102mm.

To make another point on a cost vs power which for the majority, is an issue.

I sold my combo which btw was Painted, and Ported (IMO very little by Vengence), With a 90MM Blumaxx TB and sold for about 1000.00 I took a LS6 on a partial trade and I made back like 700.00 in the end.

In the end if I was really worried about Intake CFM #'s a Single plane with a elbow would be the most optimal and depending on your goals and expectations the intake requirement will change.

Start looking for USED FAST intakes, you should probably be able to score a deal.

It depends on your cam and when your car makes its peak horsepower (and your budget of course) i keep every issue of gm high tech performance magazine and follow all the technical articles and i have modified my car using gmhtp mag as one of my references , there was an article in there where this guy (mighty mouse) was running 9s in the 1/4 mile with a ls2 block , turbo, ported ls1 throttle body with a ls6 intake manifold all while putting out over 900 rwhp I dont know if he still has the same setup but he is still running 9s or high 8s. Its been proven many times over that an ls6 intake outflows a ls2 intake.

The LS6 will suit you fine for now. I've outgrown mine and need the FAST 92 with my setup, but I have had the LS6 on there for a while.. Shoulda done a poll.

Come to think of it, I wonder how many times each LS6 intake out there has changed hands?

Probably a lot, everyone eventually realizes that they really want the extra 10-15hp they are leaving on the table, and pony up for the FAST. And its worth it.

This is my back to back test putting the 92mm FAST on my stock 6.0L truck engine, with LS2 intake, with no tuning changes. 21rwhp

not to knock heads with you but the 6.0 is a bigger motor then the 5.7 and the ls2 intake is suppose to make less hp then the ls6 so i wouldnt consider this good info for the main guy asking the question. It might be good for a stock 6.0 guy but not a 5.7 guy.

I would like to see a dyno graph with a full bolt on ls1 with an ls6 intake then see a fast 90 or 92 setup on it to really see the difference

I think Thunder Racing is still selling the 92 FAST:

There is a 10-15hp difference between an FAST 92mm and an LS6. They are even until about 3500 RPM and then the FAST pulls away.

So going from my ls1 manifold to a fast 92mm would probably add 20-25 hp.

Just some FYI, I saw an old thread by PatG stating the LS6 can support an unrestricting 265cfm, the fast 90mm unported can only manage 270cfm. On a small motor like a 5.7, I think the LS6 is not giving up much, if any, to the FAST up till 450-475rwhp. FAST most likely noticed everybody was realizing this and discontinued it.

For a 6.0 or 6.2 LS engine though, the FAST is worth the swap.

A ported LS2 is really not an upgrade over an LS6. If anything buy a used FAST or send your LS6 to TPIS and have them put a 90mm snout on it.....

This must be the 100th thread discussing the same thing and the end results are always the same.

There has to be more info on this single topic than any other on this board....."Is the FAST worth it".....blah blah blah.

Allow me to get right to the punchline....if you have the money to spend (especially if your getting serious later) the FAST is most certainly worth it and a ported FAST worth even more (properly ported the gains from the swap are almost doubled).

Admittedly, the key to it being a really worthwhile move is when you park it on top of a set of really good heads....thats when you see the gains really open up (22-27 RWHP is probably the norm for a ported FAST on a good H/C car).

However, that said, here is an overlay from a customer of mine who had a stock internals car LS1 vintage....baseline mods included headers, a lower stat, UDP, a previously installed LS6 intake upgrade, a CAI, and a tune. The only change represented in the overlay below is a move to one of my ported FAST 92's and he did so knowing he was going with our heads down the road and also knowing he wanted to improve his current combo some if possible. He didn't go into this expecting big gains (knowing he had stock cam....stock LS1 heads), but he knew it would really help him later and was an expense he was going to drop anyway.

He and I were both pleased with the results....a fatter torque/HP curve everywhere with solid gains (15 RWHP or so) and the car felt like it picked up twice that from the much more responsive larger TB set-up (I ported an LS2 90mm TB for him). My guess is had the same switch been done now with the 102 piece he would have seen even slightly higher gains but when the smoke cleared he felt the car was much quicker and the swap actually surprised him.

The question isn't whether the FAST is a good move (as most people have tried to convey)...the question is whether you want to drop dime to get one.

Its one of the best SOTP mods barring a larger displacement stroker engine and its a no brainer to compliment future mods you know you will ultimately get to.

-Tony

PS....Note the "lead in" gains in torque and note how much better the FAST wants to carry up top as well....and dont forget guys, this was a ported FAST on this SI car....not out of the box.

some one should make and sell spacer when a fast intake is being used.chrs1313 has a great solution for fast port alignment.
