Default Mods for street/strip DD!

Hey I just bought a bone stock TA WS6 with a LS1 and automatic transmission.
I just wanna know what mods(cheap but worth it) would be good to put on it for the occasional street races, or whenever i want to go for a 1/4 run. I still want it to be a DD, but really, i want to hit the 400hp mark(without nitrous) and cheap. Im already going to get the SLP/K&N Air induction Kit and a racing shifter so dont mention thoes!haha

Here is what im lookingg at...
- a good and very loud sounding exhaust set up.
- Headers.
- either 3:73 or 4:10 gears.
- intake manifold
-whatever else you think i should get, im on a budget!

and I also want to know would it hurt my engine if i put in a cam with stock heads and if its okay what cam should i get to be able to run in the stock ls1 heads, and also be able to run on different heads if i buy new ones(thinking about the ported ls6 heads). Just wondering.

Thanks All!

Read that and it should answer your cam ?'s
Sure you can put a diff cam in without porting/swapping heads.
What gears do you have in your rear end now?

Read that and it should answer your exhaust intake questions.

Im thinking right now getting a headers-exhaust set up so it can breathe better, then get some ls6 heads with a ms4. or should i go heads/cam first so ill be able to know what headers to fit on.??

Bolt-ons first, most auto guys run 3.73s.

instead of a racing shifter, put that money toward a stall in the 3-3600rpm range. you will love the stall!

3:73s, 4000 Stall, Long Tubes, Good Tune..Low low 12s on DRs for SURE..Then Mild Cam...

Dont forget about suspension..SubFrame Connectors, LCAs, Panhard Bar..All this helps..

Spair tire..get rid of it, extra weight! lol

Dont waist your money on little dumb stuff..Eww a K&N filter gave me 15 hp..not it didnt and you just waisted $100. Save for something real..Gears..Converter (stall) Good Longtubes..
