Shortys or long tubes? trying to decide what to put infront of my SLP LM1

LT's, they make more power.

also ditch the lm1 muffler and cats. also look into the flowmaster merge before buying a y-pipe.

No doubt LT's if you're looking for power (and sound). Shorties are only used if emissions are a concern, as they're roughly the same price for less hp gain.

im not really all that worried about power loss...1-3 horsepower doesnt bother me

what kind of testing do you have? LTs are illegal here but i have cats and pass. i just take it somewhere. i just make sure i dont have any codes.

- If you have an 00-02 car do not bother with shorties. They received a better-designed manifold and flow quite well actually for what they are. You will see minimal gain if any by switching to shorties. If you have a 98-99 car you'll gain some rwhp from shorties but it wont be much either.

Taken straight from the mod guide. Read through it. It'll definitely help you decide

well thats great to kno...thanks for the help...i guess now all i have to do is get some high flow cats or gut them

Lts make alot more power...I have catted Mac mids w/ a LM1 catback and it sounds great...so make your own opinion before you go and waste money on another catback. Like orange said if you have cats you should pass w/ LTs as long as your not throwing any codes.
